SR20VE / CVTM6 in P11 Wagon Power problem

Postby Kasey » December 30th, 2010, 9:45 pm

So I got a Primera P11 with its original SR20VE / CVTM6 tranny. Recently I am having this 'lazy pull of' probem. I am experiencing this power problem and I did nothing rcently so I am thinking somm went bad.

I got the car scanned by Steve (Ben lommond village), and the scanner din pick up anything fault in the tranny or the engine.

Thing is, I changed the speed sensors, and the stepper motor(whatever it is called)earlier this year due to sticking gears. When I changed these stuff, the CVT worked fine. So now when he car is moving the gears change and dont stick so I didnt think it was the tranny.

Also when I am going uphill, I have to mash the gas harder than usual.

Checked fuel pressure, air filter, plgs, injectors clean, everything ok.

Any other ideas?? Could it really be the tranny??

^^ hEY thanks for the prompt response Anil. Where is this 'dropping resistor'? Is it expensive? Can I change it myself? I do minor work on the engine myself so I know my way around a little.

Thanks again man.

update, I have realised that when the Air condition is on, the pull off is even lazier!!

Strange thing tho. Sumtimes the car work fine pullin off good and ting, and all of a sudden, it pulls off lazy again. The othe day, I stopped on a hill and could move, with foot X to board, and the car was stalling. It was like the RPM was staying at 1200.

I turned off the car the put back on and it after bout a miniute, and it went up the with no problem!!

These intermittent problems are so hard to trouble shoot.

with these cars or should i say these sr20ve with cvt. You cant mash the x right down when goin uphill. u will not get any power. Mash it moderate then it will build.

^^the reason I mash right down, is because I cant go up while mashing moderately. If the car aint moving how hard should I mash? I have to mash until the car starts to move, and thats sometimes when x to board.

Again I re-iterate: I KNOW MY CAR. I HAVE OWNED IT 3 YEARS NOW AND THIS IS NOT HOW IT USE TO WORK!!! The problem is intermittent!!!
