Foreign or local you can use super. I have spoken to other Y12 owners (foreign used) and they prefer to use super with a treatment. With this engine, you would need to be carefull on how often you use a treatment as the sensors are very sensitive .Some use a treatment every 3-6 months. Remember you can also ask Tiida owners as it is the same engine, and will tell you the same thing.
The foreign models do carry cat converters and would need to be changed after some time as the converter will clog. Currently own a Y12 and use premium. About $160. to full the tank.

When I got my RORO Wingroad Y12 the dealer filled it with Super Unleaded gas and I have never made any changes since. Have not experience any engine pinging or any other adverse affects. I don't wait so long to use an engine treatment, however when I feel the acceleration of the car becoming sluggish I use a can of Liqui Moly fuel treatment to the mix. Have been doing so since I got the car almost a year ago without any problems!

I spoke to my mechanic about the gas issue and did state one can use the super with a treatment
and that is to disperse carbon from acculumating in the cat. converter. eViLwOn I believe that is what you experienced. It is really up to the owner to care for their ride. Local Tiidas and Y12 do now carry cat converters, at least that what I was told by a Neal & Massy sales rep.
eViLwOn, what oil do you use?

@Arab, I use Total Quartz 9000 5W 40 motor oil... am pleased with the performance of this oil, I do however change the oil filter after 4000k as I do not use any high mileage oil filter on my ride...

I recently changed oil. I was using Castrol Full synthetic blend since I was always a castrol fan. Any time I changed oil, the oil would get dark brown quickly and the car is not as responsive as I would like it to be.
Using Amsoil and I already feeling the difference in performance. The only thing I would like to get is a K&N filter instead of using the original ones that only last 3 months. I change oil every 5000kms which is about 4 months.
eViLwOn have you changed cradle bushings as yet?

@Arab, haven't had cause to change them as yet. When it is time, I would be using the Super Pro bushings instead of buying any foreign used cradles. These bushing are the best and they are available for the Y12 wagon. Give Streetwise Performance a check, opposite Jenny's Wok down south. You would however be looking at $1500 to $1600 for the front kit.

I like to purchase original parts, the complete cradle cost $1500./side. Cannot buy the big cradle bushings separate. Why change out what good. Will check them out. Will let you know how that goes. What I would like to get is an aftermarket K&N Filter, and if possible an aftermarket cold air intake.
Thanks EvilWon for the info.

Arab, Streetwise Performance also got the drop in K&N filter in-stock for our make of wagon, if you want the cold air intake they'll need to order it. As you said, give them a check and they'll fix you up rell nice! Tell 'em eViLwOn sent you, lol....

From my understanding this is what I found out:-
1. The dvd deck in the Y12 wagon cannot plan DVD's other than those that are specific to the Japanese region.
2. The fogs can be purchased from Dual Star, just do a search on Tuner and you'll find them.
3. Not that I am aware of, there's no wiring in the back doors of my car.
4. Not able to answer that one...

p.s.. I stand to be corrected and enlightened!

Fireshotta, I agree with EvilWon, but depending on the model you have you may have speakers in the doors already. If you have the fully loaded version you should not have any worries. Dual Star have aftermarket products for the Y12 and the prices are indeed reasonable.

The Y12 came with different types of dvd decks, just like the Tiida (Foreign used models). My deck in the Tiida is in Japanese but it plays mp3's and dvd movies that we look at on a daily basis

Feel free to try it out and see if it works...you won't damage anything lol.

The Cabin Filter (Ac Filter) is located inside the car. It's inside the glove box. You have to remove the glove box 1st (But be careful when pulling it out), then remove the screws from the panel there & pull out that.
The filter should be in there, on the right side i believe.
It uses a filter that costs around $90-$115 (Depending on where you buy it) & i believe it uses the same filter as the Tida.

Ivan, what kind of run you are making on a daily basis? Different driving conditions, different consumption. I currently use premium and it is about $160. to full. I fill up once a week depending on the runs I make as I use my wagon to do my job and drop and pick-up my children from school. not far from work or home.
Did you change plugs and what gas are you using?

Change the plugs and see what happens. The original replacement is about $700. for the set. Change air filter? If not go with K&N. Cant go wrong.

Hi Ivan,
At present my Y12 is burning heavy gas, I went to two mechanics to see if they could identify and solve the problem. So far they have have concluded that I have a defective Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.
I purchased one online and will have it installed when it gets here. Will give feedback soon!

@Arab, what sort of mileage would you normally get from a regular fill-up, taking into consideration traffic and different driving conditions?

@eViLwOn
During the school term my fill up would be about $120- $160, once a week premium using a/c. My work requires me to have a ride and I do use it regularly. As school is out, I have filling up every 9- 10 days. Less traffic less headache less gas.
Depending on work goes a full tank of gas last about 400km- 500km.
