To Fiery.

Many times with Tiida Hatchbacks, even Dualises, I get the rattle of the hatchback. But I have never had that experience with the X-Trail.
However it appears that the lock on the tailgate does not fit snugly on the catch, which is on the body. I fix this by wrapping some electrical tape on the catch.............about 4 or 5 wraps. This solves the problem.
Peace.

To Rajiv,
The Serena shares the same engine and similar transmission with the X-Trail. However because they are differently designed vehicles, it appears that there are less air streaming around the Serena's drive unit. Too because the Serenas are used as taxis with loads all the time and in heavy traffic, the built in cooler may have some challenges. So a large external cooler will help the transmission oil. Most of the taximen have gotten this installed.
Maybe you should talk to a reputable transmission repairman to see if it is worth it.
Peace.

To Ravi40.

The chassis designation T31 is 2WD(FWD)
The chassis designation NT31 is 4WD.

The NT31 is switchable to 2WD, 4WD and 4WD Auto.
In 4WD Auto, it engages as necessary.
In 2WD mode only the front wheels drive. It is the best option for normal driving and most economical for gas consumption.

Just remember that the T31 is the lighter of the two, so that it will reflect in your gas consumption also.

Peace.

Take a look at this picture:-

Image

This is the transmission fluid that drained out after removing the axles to renew the axle booths...

Now I did a drain and refill about 12,000km ago and the old oil didnt even come out that colour

Gonna do a complete flush now.

Made this post for information purposes so other T31 xtrail owners can be informed...

Ramcharita's on Pasea main rd have the genuine denso plugs with the number FX20hr11, paid $380.00 for the set.

Ok nice. Did changing the plugs resolve the rough start and idle on morning start up?

90% or more of the tuners here on these forums are budget oriented, always looking to save a dollar.
So asking about reviews wouldn't get too much useful response.
It would all depend on how much money you have to spend on tires.
You can get Chinese like Sailun for about $450 or Sumitomo for over $800.
Then there are X-Trails that come with 16", 17" or even 18" OEM rims.
What is your driving like ?
Do you drive from Blanchisuesse to POS ? Maraval to Diego ? Cedros to Curepe ?
Are you the one always holding back traffic, because monday to Saturday, you are always cruising ?
Or are you always late and in a hurry ?

May of us have Sailun pockets, but Pirelli tastes !
Peace.

The Dunlop sp7000 225/55/18 on mine are noisy, really really noisy so I wouldn't recommend them.
I had bridgestones on my vitara and I found them to not have good wet road traction so I won't recommend them, however I now have kumho apts on my vitara and they do well. It might be worth trying them on your xtrail. They coat about $900 each by Laughlin.

Thanks DVSTT will check them out.
ramishrrr I will be driving from Gran Couva to Laventille on a daily basis for work, but sometimes work takes me on the road and that can be cross country. I have OEM 17", 215/55/17 but would like to go for something higher maybe 60.

Sheriff,
Last year February, I fitted an X-Trail Axis with 18" Nexen. I never used Nexen, but the client comes from Cunupia to Marabella to work.
1. The person is not an aggressive driver like I am.
2. That was the only tyre the shop had at the time to fit those rims. I wanted to deliver the vehicle early.
3. They cost $1150 each.
I took the vehicle Rio Claro at my old time mechanic pal to change the CVT oil. It was very rainy, and I felt that the tires held quite well on the most horrible road in T&T.
Usually when I have to fit tires on vehicles I use Firestone or Bridgestone, and the owners do not complain. Usually the Bridgestone is about $50-$75 more than the Bridgestone.
We have a T31 in the family, and it came with Yokohamas. They work well.
As a matter of fact Yokohamas are the tyres of my choice. I have heard reports that Sumitomo is good, but I have never used them. I know that Toyos are good too, but I have never used them on an X-Trail.
I stay away from Kumho and Hankook, as I had steel belting twisting on me with Hankooks. I'm sort of prejudiced towards Korean products including their vehicles Kia, Hyundai and Chevy.
I buy all my tires from Ramrattan's in Marabella.
Maybe you can call Anil (731 4333) and he will recommend something. He derives a WRX, so that would help.
Peace.
RR.

Oh ! Check the driver's doorpost to see the correct size of tyre recommended by Nissan.

The deck will be in Japanese, though you will see some English wording.
Too, a lot of the X-Trails and Serenas' decks come with music storage systems that carry files with lots of English and Japanese music.
The radio is tuned to receive Japanese frequencies which are lower than ours. However a $125 Band Expander inserted in the antenna line will enable you to receive the local stations, albeit with lower Japanese display. This has to be the band expander with two Molex connectors at both ends.
Personally, this is no big thing for me. I hardly listen to radio.
I have seen X-Trail decks with USB and iPod cords in the glovebox….that will be a plus !
About the Navigation, I cannot answer. I have driven all over T&T without that. I always find my way back home.
They are very sophisticated units, but we cannot read Japanese to put them to full use. Sigh !
Peace.

Thanxs for the reply. Agree with you about RepuAuto. They have alot of aftermarket parts for many makes of vehicles. Will give them a check when I am ready to change the transmission oil in the X-Trail.
