So, is this a simple diy procedure? just remove the screws, remove cover, old gasket and silicone clean...
replace gasket, silicone as needed and screw up the cover?
and for the QG, is it the same procedure....i also need to change the plug seals as well
any thing to look out for etc?

This should be a simple procedure. You may need to use an impact screwdriver to remove the "phillips" screws holding it down as some times it is very difficult to break them free with a regular screwdriver.
You generally don't need to silicone the entire area, just where the cam "humps" are on the head or you can play it safe and run a thin film of silicone around the entire area.

Don't forget the tightening order of the screws.......start from the middle and work your way outwards.

OP,if u use an OEM gasket u don't have to use silicone. if u use a normal parts place gasket I recommend u do, from experience here with my sr!

I did this about two years ago on the qg15. Bought oem valve cover and gasket. A regular phiilips screw driver worked. Tips: clean dust from around the area as u dont want any fallin inside the engine. When u remove the cover, clean the mating surface properly. I didn't use any silicone when replacing. Tighten screws in order according to fsm. About a week or so later, re tighten screws. I use a lil thread locker to help prevent and screw slackenin over time due to vibrations. Trust me it happens. Have fun
