Re: Recommendations for race surface preparation
A visual inspection of the surface seems to indicate that there is possibly just 20 to 25 percent of the required surface contact. This is very inadequate for any form of drag racing, not to mention safety concerns, therefore some remedial work is required.
The following are the most cost effective measures that could be implemented to improve the current state of the surface, thereby increasing traction and addressing some safety concerns.
Recommendations:• Roll entire track (steamroller) including burnout area – this would crush high points so as to establish a flatter surface.
• Pressure wash entire track so as to remove all debris and contaminants.
• Apply bitumastic cold tar epoxy to burnout launch pad and 200 feet of running surface. This is an attempt to fill small voids on surface thereby increasing surface contact.
• Apply traction compound to coated surface.
• Drag tyres so as to apply a thin layer of rubber.
• Application of traction compound and tyre dragging should be repeated a few times.

With this is mind, this thread is open to any suggestions from other racers and those involved in drag racing at Camden.

Re: Results of small test area
As instructed, following our discussion, Mr. Nizam Mohammed was contacted and verbal approval was granted to conduct application of product on small test area. Coal tar epoxy was installed, so as to evaluate results and to provide relevant authorities with a test piece to assess. My personal view is that the product seems to be working very favorably for its intended use. It should be noted that the ultimate recommendation would be to coat the entire track, however this is not feasible at this time, the following small but critical areas have been identified for product application.
Area 1 – 50 feet x 10 feet from starting line backwards. This will ensure proper burnout area and transfer of rubber to launch pad.
Area 2 – 75 feet x 12 feet from starting line going forward.
Area 3 – An additional 75 foot x 16 foot wide area.
From our calculations, the total area to be coated is 2600 square feet per lane. Our test indicated that 5 gallons of the product (one pail) provides coverage for approximately 100 sq. ft., therefore, 26 pails would be required per lane at a cost of $ 875.00 TTD per pail making the total cost per lane $ 22,750.00 TTD.
Estimated job duration is 3 to 4 days weather is favorable. Should procurement of the product be timely and approval granted, the Party Time Racing Team is willing to purchase the first $ 5000.00 worth of product. The team will also provide some level of expertise and labor. Some other drivers have indicated their willingness to help with some form of funding. We look forward to your favorable and timely response.
Having addressed some safety concerns, together with track preparations, the Party Time Racing Team is now recommending that one of the most critical areas of drag racing be verified; distance measurements be confirmed and certified. The team has engaged the services of a qualified government approved surveying crew equipped with a total station point – to – point via GPS. This will ensure accurate distances. Recommended points of measurements; 60ft., 660 ft, 1320 ft. and 60 ft. before 1320 ft. for speed trap. Should sensors be put in place for these distances, racecar performance evaluation and tuning would become more effective having gathered more data. The services of the surveying crew carries a cost of $ 1700.00 TTD and can be done tomorrow, 1st February, 2008.
Again, looking forward to a favorable response.
Thanks,
Party Time Racing Team
