The manual typically also has instructions for what they consider extreme environments.

Also when i took delivery of my vehicle from ANSA they made me sign a document saying that to maintain the warranty I had to service the car with them every 6 months or 10,000 Km when the manual said 1 year or 10K and for extreme conditions use the built in oil monitoring system which typically work out to around 10 months with my use of the car.

Nah, I won't agree with you there, 'severe' conditions are those like in the desert or Antarctica, these 'sales reps' use analogies like "we like in the Caribbean", "so our place is too dusty" etc. true and utter nonsense!

If a manufacturer has spent millions of dollars in research and development and doesn't 'amend' their owners' manual to reflect the environment where the vehicle is being sold, well that's concerning, however, if the manual states service every 10,000km, then I'll trust them and not the 'stealership' just my '2 cents'!

Climate is only one

Listing some other points that are considered severe conditions:
- Excessive Idling
- Stop and go Traffic
- Short Journeys
- High Sulfer fuels (Trinidad Bureau of Standards has set 500ppm for gasoline and 1000ppm for diesel at least up to Dec 2019; not sure if updated) The USA has a requirement of 10 ppm for gasoline and 15ppm for diesel. Why use the US as a comparison...API is one of the major oil specification companies

Newer oils cannot cope with high-sulfur fuels for the same amount of time.

That said the every 3 months thing is a bit excessive. 6 months to 1 yr or 5000kms is alright in my book...but I don't warranty the vehicle.

10000Kms is just too much...It's not going to destroy anything instantly, but it does eat away at the potential longevity of the machine

Planning to get a 2019 Nissan Note EPower but I'm concerned about repairs/mechanics/parts. Any suggestions?
Anyone who has this car, can you tell me your thoughts on it as well?
Thanks! :)

i dont like how they Suv-ing up all these vans now. the front shape looks like a suv.

all vans now, i fond they should distinguish the vans with more rugged styling.

Cheap as chips ... Also if mass adoption happens then parts and service outside of mASSy shouldn't be an issue.

I guess hyundai is now a premium brand in mASSy's line up.

I think mass adoption currently happening, I think the purists who think beyond the new car paint and smell still worry about long term reliability and accessibility to parts, MG is part of the SAIC group so the presumption is that their cars will share parts with other badges in the group but nothing else is sold here so no track record to assist but organically local parts places will eventually start to stock up. The local review of the MG HS that couldn’t even make it up Chancellor without the transmission overheating was a big red flag. My own VW experience about DCT which is also in these cars gives me even more hesitancy.

Really?
Drove an HS for 3 weeks without any issues, never had any transmission issues. I guess i have experience driving a DCT from my jetta days. Did mountains, Highways, Country roads. On a hill start it did roll back 2-3 inches so I used to ease off the break while pressing the accelerator.

I know plenty Trinis who does use the accelerator to not roll down a hill.
Maybe thats what they were doing to overheat the transmission.
