The world runs on some very very old equipment... mostly Unix based. Super critical like banking/ wireless transfers transport systems etc etc

One person above claims, he (just assuming gender, so no need for you liberals to go off on gender mischaracterization) intends to save money by possibly purchasing an almost 400k vehicle cause the intent is to save money by "saving" on fuel and maintenance costs.

Then he went on to further state that he'll buy it and drive it "until it won't drive anymore." This is admittance to the fact that this is a disposable vehicle as time goes by.

Hoping to see many hybrid and EV's to get posted here with glowing reviews from the many buyers it supposedly have lined up.

I got to hand it to the Chinese though, when you see the Japanese take on an EV called the Mazda MX-30, Nissan Leaf, Mitsubishi Imiev and the Honda e, I could understand why you would laugh and throw money to BYD instead.

Stop being a keyboard warrior and go get some sunlight. You make it really obvious you spend way too much time trying to argue online.

When you don't have a response, the failed ad hominem attack follows. Typical behavior of the vacuous. Doesn't matter what you excrete at this point, you will be ignored.

That’s a lot to say nothing. My last car (gasoline) costs over 300k … if I replace that with a EV for around the same price, slash my gas bill from $900-1100 a month to less than 100 a month.
Reduce my maintenance cost significantly (no oil, filter plugs) … exactly what is the issue with that ?
The long term failure rate of components on electric vehicles has been proven to be less.
Yall are the same people who used to swear by carburetor over fuel injection.
I don’t care about what issues electrification has on US and EU… I don’t care who can’t drive state to state or who can’t find a charger. Me living on a small island with cheap electricity and a garage to park in will transition one of my cars to electricity and then the other eventually.

Its not virtue signalling
EVs just make more sense from a owners perspective. No more oil and filter change every 3-6 months, No more trips to the gas station, and theres no taxes meaning cheaper upfront price.
You ever drive an EV? the acceleration is addictive with no lag from engine/transmission.

these trade offs is your car battery will probably die at the 8 to 10 year mark. Alot of people who have money are willing to make this trade off. Poorer class will not see it that way as they are always looking to save money and waste time.

Chinese and Tesla are destroying the Japanese and germans and its boils down to how much cheaper they can make their cars due to labor, automation, Die casting parts is a big one and lastly is their software approach to car systems.
VW is screwed because they are failing at the integrated software system of EV's.

lulz
I do that with all my cars. Currently have a MINI Cooper downstairs collecting dust. Beat it for 10 years, and I good
Did same with a Corolla that we have for about 18 years now
I have a B1600 that I will also run till it dies and park it with the rest
And when my current daily, a used 116i goes boom, I'll throw that in a heap with the rest, along with the wife's Focus
So meem see anything wrong with his comment

My Tucson turns 10 a bit later on this year. I have no intention of selling it but would get myself something newer and keep that to beat still. No problems on transmission in that time and I am beyond 120k kms. My cousin has a 17 year old Tucson that he has given his son who uses it daily.

Korean cars of the late 2000s are not the same as the ones from the 1990s.

By homie's rationale one should have bought a more expensive and less feature rich Rav 4 to get the same ten years??

Too many unknowns in MG’s response so I can’t add much except to say maybe you’re financially well off to use vehicles and discard when it’s eol. What stands out to me is the b1600 and the Corolla. You mentioned 18yrs for the rola. The 1600 is probably 3-4 decades old so those stood the test of time. Good for you. The nze is built to last guaranteed for more than 3 decades. I still see 92’s and 101s on the road so you can’t go wrong with Toyota as they wrote the book on longevity.

Are you a sales person by chance or you work at massy? I happened to see the MG EV GT today which is reduced to 279k. It’s almost 200k cheaper than the gold standard of SUVs locally (RAV4) and I’m thinking to myself that the upfront savings is phenomenal! Combined with the lack of fuel and oil change costs it can save you money then Massy says that it still requires a service every 6 months to keep the warranty. My question is, what is the service cost like?

I think it’s actually a good deal especially for a stay at home mom or as a second car. I know the actual range sucks but nothing an overnight charge won’t solve. Then based on the KGM guy above, I did some reading on the Torres EV which is 375k. It’s actually on a special. If the price can be reduced to a 300 or 325k then that would be something and I believe the battery tech on the Torres is superior to the mg as it’s lifted from BYD. No surprise there.

Whatever suits alluh pocket is what matters. Everybody’s economics are different. I was thinking about giving my wife the cx5 and take a cx60 and let the cx3 end up with my in-laws but I change my mind. Like I mentioned before, the brakes in the cx5 are too small. The wheels are too narrow and the engine lacks the power. The cx60 solves this slightly but 585 is too much for me right now.

So I don't know if anyone drove one yet or what, but I see the Volvo ex30 becoming really popular, reviews for it are fantastic, curious to hear that sound bar solution they came up with, should be interesting.

Putting it on my list for my next vehicle.
