So Tony kill a man last night

Tony Stewart struck and killed a fellow driver with his sprint car late Saturday night during a dirt-track race at Canandaigua (N.Y.) Motorsports Park, the Ontario County Sheriff's Department announced early Sunday morning. Stewart will race at Watkins Glen International on Sunday.
Stewart-Haas Racing Vice President of Competition Greg Zipadelli called Stewart racing, "business as usual." NASCAR spokesperon Kerry Tharp said that NASCAR is investigating, but that nothing at this stage precludes Stewart from racing on Sunday, according to multiple reports.
In the sprint-car incident, Sheriff Philip Povero confirmed the driver, whom Povero would not identify, was dead on arrival to an area hospital Saturday night and that Stewart was the driver who struck him. He said that his department's investigation is not criminal and that Stewart was "fully cooperative" and appeared "very upset" over what had happened.
"He was visibly shaken by this accident," Povero said, according to the AP.
While Stewart is being investigated, Povero said the investigation is not criminal and that no charges have been filed. Stewart was released; the three-time Sprint Cup champion is believed to be in Watkins Glen, N.Y., for Sunday's Sprint Cup race.

Stewart-Haas Racing competition director Greg Zipadelli announced Sunday morning that Tony Stewart will not race in Sunday's Cheez-It 355 Sprint Cup Series event at Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, New York.

The three-time champion was involved late Saturday night in an incident in a nearby sprint car race that left another driver, Kevin Ward Jr., with fatal injuries.

Zipadelli announced that Nationwide Series driver Regan Smith will fill in for Stewart, driving the No. 14 Chevrolet.

Another helluva race at Watkins Glen. NASCAR should definitely think about adding more road course races a year. At least 3 for now.

Tony Stewart to sit out Michigan. Jeff Burton to drive. Only pertains to Michigan. No decision made on remaining races.

It would be good if he can win another championship. However, I strongly suspect that Chad Knaus and Jimmie Johnson will steamroll through the Chase.

Edwards to Joe Gibbs Racing in 2015: Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) announced that Carl Edwards will join the organization in 2015 to compete full time in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. In addition, ARRIS Group, Inc. will sponsor Edwards in the #19 Toyota Camry for 17 races in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with JGR expanding its operations to include a fourth team. "This is one of the biggest days in Joe Gibbs Racing's history," said Joe Gibbs, founder and owner of Joe Gibbs Racing. "To be able to bring a driver the caliber of Carl Edwards on board to launch our fourth team is just a thrill. But we also have the opportunity to announce a new partner in ARRIS that will not only sponsor Carl, but also share a vision with Carlos Slim Domit and Escuderia TELMEX to develop Mexican and Latin American drivers in NASCAR. We are excited to have Daniel Suarez as part of that program and look forward to watching his development in the NASCAR Nationwide Series next season."
A Missouri native, Edwards is currently eighth in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series point standings with two wins, five top-five and nine top-10 finishes thus far this season. Over the course of his 11-year career, he has won a total of 23 races with 106 top-five and 182 top-10 finishes. In addition to his 23 Sprint Cup Series wins, he has also compiled 38 wins in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and won the championship in 2007. His highest finish in the Sprint Cup Series season was in 2011 when he was runner-up to Tony Stewart based on a tiebreaker.(Joe Gibbs Racing)(8-19-2014)

As far as NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races available on Flow/Blink for 2015:
NBCSN can be added to Flow, was on Blink until sometime this weekend when they got rid of it unannounced. Dumb move, with no chance of an explanation.

Kasey Kahne is in the Chase.

Entering the Oral-B USA 500 directly on the bubble of the Chase for Sprint Cup on Sunday night, the 34-year-old was able to enter Victory Lane after an absolutely wild finish, effectively booking his spot in the top 16 and saving his season.

Tony Stewart out of Atlanta race in NASCAR return

HAMPTON, Ga. — Tony Stewart's return to racing lasted half as long as he wanted.

Two meetings with the outside wall – neither his fault – ended Stewart's night before the halfway point of the Oral-B USA 500 Sunday at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Kyle Busch drove up the track and forced Stewart into the wall on a Lap 122 restart, crumpling the right side of Stewart's No. 14 Chevrolet and damaging the suspension.

"We just got run over big-time!" Stewart radioed his crew. "I hit the wall pretty hard there."

Stewart said his steering wheel was "about an inch to the left." He fell from 11th to 19th position before making a stop on pit road for repairs, the first of several to mend damage to the right front.

After extensive repairs, Stewart returned to the track, but slammed the wall again on Lap 170 when his right front tire blew.

"Sorry guys, you deserve better than this," Stewart radioed his crew.

Stewart's Chevy limped into the garage, and he climbed from the vehicle. A few minutes later, crew chief Chad Johnston determined the damage could not be repaired, so Stewart's night was over.

Stewart did not speak to the news media after retiring.

Johnston said damage from the first encounter with the wall led to the second incident.

"It went really tight and ended up blowing the right front," he said. "It's terminal. No way to really fix it here."

Stewart, making his first Sprint Cup start since hestruck and killed Kevin Ward Jr. on Aug. 9, remains under investigation.

Johnston said Stewart's first race weekend back went well.

"It was awesome," he said. "It was like he was never gone. We never skipped a beat. He's a champion. That's what true champions do. That's why he's a champion, and he'll be a champion again.

"He's the owner. He's the leader. He's the driver. Most important, he's the leader of the team. We all look at him to lead us and guide us, and it's good to have him back. We look forward to going on the rest of the year and getting him to victory lane."

On Friday, NASCAR granted him a waiver to participate in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. So despite him missing time in the car during the regular season, Stewart will make the 16-driver championship field if he wins next Saturday night at Richmond International Raceway. He must win to challenge for what would be a fourth championship. He won in 2002, 2005 and 2011.

"This is not what we wanted for Tony's first race back to end this way," Johnston said. "We'll see if we can get him in the Chase at the last moment. It will be exciting."

Before the green flag, Stewart walked out during driver introductions to a chorus of cheers — the loudest and longest among the 43 drivers — as some fans in the frontstretch grandstand stood and clapped.

The response drowned out the public address announcer's introduction of Stewart.

He waved a couple times and shook hands with each person on the stage before taking the customary lap around the track in the back of a pickup.

In the half-hour before the start of the race, Stewart, standing beside his No. 14 Chevrolet, was visited by sponsor representatives Johnny Morris of Bass Pro Shops and Rusty Rush of Rush Enterprises, who earlier Sunday told USA TODAY Sports 'We stand by Tony'.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. and PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (September 3, 2014) -- NASCAR and Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK) announced today a historic agreement that will make Comcast's XFINITY brand the title sponsor of what is now known as the NASCAR Nationwide Series through 2024. The 10-year term matches the longest single agreement around title sponsorship of any NASCAR national series in history, and is the longest entitlement sponsorship agreement in this series' history.

Beginning January 1, 2015, the property will be known as the NASCAR XFINITY Series. XFINITY will become only the third title sponsor in series history following Anheuser-Busch (26 years) and Nationwide Insurance (seven years). The agreement also makes XFINITY an Official NASCAR Partner in the multichannel video programming distributor (MVPD) and broadband ISP categories.

The announcement was made during an event at the NASCAR Hall of Fame -- where the sport's history is celebrated every day -- and was the first series entitlement sponsorship ever announced at the venue.

XFINITY is Comcast's residential service brand and is the nation's largest video and high-speed Internet provider. The company has increased Internet speeds for existing customers 13 times in 12 years and recently introduced XFINITY on the X1 Entertainment Operating System. The company also offers XFINITY On Demand, the most robust video on demand platform in the world. Comcast serves business and residential customers in 39 states and Washington, D.C.

"We're proud to welcome XFINITY to the NASCAR community as title sponsor of the NASCAR XFINITY Series for the next decade," said Brian France, NASCAR Chairman & CEO. "NASCAR and XFINITY are each leader brands with much in common. Both are focused on innovation and have products built for speed. Together, we will work to take this series to new heights and elevate one of the most unique and powerful partnerships in all of sports."

What will soon be known as the NASCAR XFINITY Series is the property where names are made and is like nothing else in major pro sports. It features the most talented young drivers regularly competing side-by-side against NASCAR's biggest and brightest stars.

"Technology lives at the heart of NASCAR, just as it does for XFINITY," said Dave Watson, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Comcast Cable. "NASCAR provides an exciting environment in which to showcase our video and Internet products and we look forward to further enhancing the fan experience at home, at the track and on the go for years to come."

The series also has a large, highly engaged and technology-connected television audience. It races in some of the nation's largest markets -- from Chicago to Los Angeles to Miami -- and at the sport's biggest and most iconic tracks -- from Daytona International Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway and Atlanta Motor Speedway, to Talladega Superspeedway and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

According to NASCAR Fan Engagement Tracker 2013 (commissioned by NASCAR and conducted by Toluna), NASCAR fans spend an average of four-and-a-half hours each week watching NASCAR on television and an additional two-and-a-half-hours each week following the sport on digital platforms.

XFINITY is among the premier sponsors in sports today and a robust sponsorship activation program is part of the new agreement with NASCAR, with aggressive planning already underway.

Comcast's involvement with NASCAR is expanding rapidly. In addition to the NASCAR XFINITY Series announced today, Comcast's NBC Sports unit will begin broadcasting NASCAR race events in July 2015.

After a successful seven-year run as series entitlement sponsor, Nationwide Insurance pivoted its marketing programs to become a NASCAR team sponsor next season. Nationwide also is the official auto, home, life and business insurance partner of NASCAR.

NASCAR has revised its national series qualifying format for Talladega Superspeedway.
For the Oct. 17-19 events at Talladega featuring both the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, qualifying will take on a more rapid pace.
Keystone Light Pole Qualifying for the Fred’s 250 powered by Coca-Cola NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race will take place at 5:30 pm ET Oct. 17 and air live on FOX Sports 1. Coors Light Pole Qualifying for the GEICO 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race is scheduled for 4:30 pm ET Oct. 18 and will air live on MRN and ESPNNEWS.
National series qualifying at Talladega will now consist of the following:
Three rounds with the first round divided into two groups amongst the competitors. The first qualifying round is five minutes in length for each group. This is a change with the field divided into two groups. The rest of qualifying is the same as has been done this season.
Competitors will be assigned to a first qualifying round group based on the random draw held earlier in the event.
The 24 eligible competitors that post the fastest single lap speed from either of the first qualifying round groups will advance to the second round. The remaining competitors will be sorted based on their speed posted in the first round of qualifying in descending order.
There will be a 10-minute break after the completion of the first qualifying round and the 24 remaining competitors that advance to the second round will have their times reset.
The second qualifying round is five minutes in length and the 12 eligible competitors that post the fastest single lap speed will advance to the third and final round.
The fastest remaining competitors will earn positions 13-24 based on their fastest single lap speed posted in qualifying in descending order.
Following a five minute break, the 12 eligible competitors that advance to the final round will have their posted speeds reset.
The final qualifying round is five minutes in length and the fastest single lap speed will determine positions 1-12 in descending order.
“This revision in national series qualifying at Talladega should be more exciting for our fans,” said Robin Pemberton, NASCAR senior vice president of competition and racing development. “It will feature a more accelerated pace, provide greater opportunity for team strategy to come into play and it should more closely resemble actual racing conditions.”
Also, the Fred’s 250 powered by Coca-Cola NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Oct. 18 will now begin at 1 p.m. ET, moving up from the original start time of 3:30 p.m. ET. The race will air live on MRN and FOX.
The GEICO 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Talladega on Sunday, Oct. 19, which airs at 2 p.m. ET on MRN and ESPN, is the cutoff race for the Contender Round in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup and will trim the championship field to eight drivers.
