Good morning I need some advice please. I like three vehicles, the ASX, the SPORTAGE & TUSCON. What I want to know is which one best all round. I'm looking for good fuel consumption, great handling, cargo space, comfort and power. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Diesel Tucson might be your best option based on overall criteria, don't expect great handling from those three choices though.

Mazda's CX5 is way better handling and higher quality interior and ride. You do however give up power with the anaemic 2.0 Skyactiv motor.

I prefer the handling of the sportage to any of the SUVs in its class...XV was the only close comparison...

The cx5 is excellent, but southern sales service and the fact that the 4*4 is 435k, will drive away a lot of potential customers.

I have a Tuscon, actually handles just under the cx-5 in many comparisons... It corners well for a large/high vehicle, decent power too.

I wouldn't call it fun or anything, but it gets the job done. I strongly suggest waiting for the new model though, numerous improvement, including handling, hopefully they bring the 1.6 turbo, more power than the current 2.0

I really don't like the Mazda but the TUSCON from what you are saying seems to be a very good vehicle. Thanks

The 1.6 turbo coming with a dualclutch gearbox so massy will never consider it.

WRT comfort and power, they're all pretty much on par with one another. Handling wise, the Sportage/Tucson are competent at best. I haven't driven an ASX but given it's Lancer roots, I would want to rate it higher than the Korean pair with their Elantra/Cerato roots, which aren't exactly known for handling prowess.

In terms of fuel economy, I'm sure the ASX win hands down... nothing beats a CVT for this, barring a tranny with 7 or more gears. Engine revs remain extremely low even at highway speeds and the ASX has 6 manual mode "gears" to choose from, which are selectable via paddle shifters, something the Koreans do not offer... they do have shift lever operated tiptronic though.

I have one huge criticism for the Sportage/Tucson though, and it has to do with their brakes... they are the WORST I have ever used in a modern car. I'm not sure if the servo size is too small, but the power assistance under braking is grossly inadequate and leaves you extremely panicked in emergency situations, wondering if you'll stop before plowing through the obstruction ahead. Worse yet, when descending steep grades, even under full braking you actually feel the pads skip along the discs, as if they aren't biting and gripping hard enough. This too is quite unnerving as you could imagine. It's a the only downside to an otherwise good and reliable vehicle. Having owned one I won't buy another only for this reason... it's that bad! Waiting to see if the system in the new model was improved. You eventually get accustomed to it and drive to suit, but therein lies the problem... the limits of the car are far lower than the average driver's own, which makes the driving experience a total buzz kill or a suicide mission if you decide to go fast... take your pick.

The new Tucson is now larger and competes more with the CX5, RAV4, forester and CRV

Considering it starting at 265 which is cheaper than the competition I think it's right in line with hyundai ethos of value for money.

For those New VW PICKUPS- that's madness, and as soon as its registered it loses 40% of its value as does all other EUROS

He's not far off to be honest. If u buy an expensive euro and sell soon after purchase you have to give it away. The persons interested can afford a brand new one anyway, so they would only jump at a deal. Most 500k euros would sell for about 300k, less that a year after.

Yeah but the amarok price wise is not that much off the jap/thai competition's pricing
VW is not a premium mark.

Anyone here has info on if we're getting the 1.4tfsi q3?
I heard there's currently a 1.2tfsi a3 sport back for 250k at SS
Heard its Quattro as well but I doubt. Don't think a 1.2tfsi would be able to provide enough power for that.
