yup, did that with mines.
bought mines in 2010 and took it to them for the 1000km check up.
after that i serviced for my self at home using only original filters (they not that expensive) and oil.
i even change the fuel filter at 2500km instead of the usual 5000km interval
however i did tell Nigel (the sale rep) that i'm not gonna accept their bullsh!t about void warranty and i not signing anything as i will be using original parts and if they have a problem then tell Toyota.
Manager came and spoke to me, at the end of it i got a special contract.
however going in three years........no problems so warranty my arse after all........i never had to use it

unless it got better
my buddy has a fullyloaded 2.0 keyless entry all that jazz a 2008 model i think
and he says it uses more gas than his fully modded turboed impreza
tourniquet wrote:how much is the sorento going for? Also, you might want to consider the santa fe, I believe they come in diesel models, plus an all new redesigned santa fe should be coming, so the "old" stock should see a drop in price.
As for the vitara, I just filled up and zeroed my trip meter, so I'll update you during my next fill up. Like most cars, it comes with a range gauge, and that usually shows 460kms when I refill; dunno how accurate it is though. It runs on super, and costs around $130 to fill up.
With your diesel choices, not only will you get better a longer range, but you'll benefit from having a nice torquey engine![]()
With the hilux and the navara, well, you'll be in a truck, regardless of how many people seem to think of them as a luxury vehicle![]()
They're both great for what they are, trucks, so just don't expect silky smooth suspension, extra quiet cabin, and stellar handling or braking. Now, it's been quite some time since I've checked out either of the trucks you mentioned, so I'm not sure if they come with any sort of stability, or traction control systems; remember these trucks tend to have decent power, open trays, and are rear wheel drive, so if you're not careful, or have on some crappy tires, expect to have some "oh sheit!" moments, especially in the wet

With the sorento, you're more liable to get a better handling, more comfortable vehicle, with more safety features I'm sure. My biggest concern would be dealing with that dealership; granted you can hear horror stories from any dealership, I seem to hear more aimed at that oneThe other major downfall would be of course, price, cause after catching a glance into a new sorento the other day, I'm assuming it's quite more expensive than the trucks.
Anyhow, good luck, keep us updated on what you choose, and when we getting a ride in the new vehicle

Lol, how do you define sensibly? I don't think I have a heavy foot though, I just need a nice response when I press down to make quick moves.
tourniquet wrote:sorry about not updating you sooner. It turns out that the gauge is kinda accurate after all; with mixed driving (some city but mainly highway runs) I experienced around 420km on that tank; I didn't run it to empty, so I stopped checking at the 420 mark. If you're doing mainly highway runs, this 400km+ per tank should be easy to achieve, granted you're not flooring it and flashing your light at everyone to get out of your way. The thing I would warn you about though, the 2.0L engine feels anemic both off the line, as well as anything over 120kmph, but you would expect that with only 140 or so hp, plus you shouldn't be going over that speed anyway
. All in all it's an ideal car for legal driving in T&T

Now because of my concerns about dealing with the Kia dealership, I haven't even bothered looking into exactly what they offer down here. Can you tell me if they offer the 2.0L turbo diesel, and also, is the sportage really much smaller than the vitara? Honestly though, if the Kia comes with that 180 something hp turbo diesel, and you could get some dealership reviews from actual sportage owners, I would probably go with that; better power, better mileage, and it might be more comfortable too. The vitara might have the edge when it comes to going offroad, but I seriously doubt you'll miss not being able to lock the kia into 4H or 4L

as with any heavy vehicle, flooring it all the tine to accelerate hard will burn fuel. Best fuel economy comes from smooth driving
