Just wanna say I'm looking forward to your build, bro...
But I always love to see RX's with rotary engines. Simply because it's such a unique engine that it is essentially the essence of those cars.

I agree and I'm one of those too, I suppose. I think it has to do with the fear that many people seem to have about rotary engines. Going this route, rotary in S-Chassis etc shows that the person is a brave soul and up for a challenge. Other motors seem to comparably be the safe route. At least I think that's the perception.

It doesn't really bother me about guys taking out their rotary engines. I just think to myself, more for me :)

As long as a rotary chassis isn't riced out, it's all good!

oh no..definitely not gonna be riced out!

Plan is to get the 99+ spec bumpers and lights etc..get a nice wing for the back and lower it nice and flush with some staggered wheels...going to be a simple looking car with simple power to get what I want done.

So far the plan is to pull it out of the garage either next weekend (long weekend) or the weekend after. Clean up, neaten up and get it running again before anything else.

What I've noticed is that the outer drivers door handle is broken...does anyone have one spare for sale??

The A31 or C33 will be an awesome priject with the SR20.
I have always wanted to do one of those.

But I guess you love the RX and really don't want to drive a taxi to blend in with the regular Joe on the highway.

Either way, it will be nice.
What rear end you running presently?
As the stock can take the 350HP easy.

Don't plan to change the back end as I got an original 2001 LSD back end already installed.

Only suspension mods will be coilovers, brake pads, brake lines, maybe poly suspension bits here n there.

sr20A31 swap is my future project.

from my basic research sr20 t28 would do about 300HP with 650cc injectors and z32 maf. Basic piggy back

Lol..thanks moti..yeah as I said, 300-350WHP..I just said HP earlier but I meant WHP.

Last SR20 build in an S14 got me 330WHP with intake, exhaust, GT28 from S15, extractor manifold, 565cc injectors, Z32 airflow, mines ecu tuned for the supporting mods.

"GTR Fever"]To keep the V8 is a lot more work that that as the car's balance is way off.

well the bastard was put into the hands of a local rotary tuner and his words were... quote :'' it handles like a normal 3 gen... but pulls like a 20 b''

Why not keep it. V8 .manual swap and depending on the particular engine gearbox set up the weight difference and distribution shouldn't be an issue .it,ll be Na and reliable .bolt in kits available .

Won't mind keeping it v8 powered but I will have to go with the LS swap to keep it daily friendly and have everything working properly.

Looking at other options for powerplants..saw a very very nice 2.0 Mazda engine from a miata that's turbocharged and 6 speed..price not too bad either

Car hasn't moved but I'm fixing the drivers door handle.

Also toying with the idea of keeping it V8 powered but more street friendly. Speaking to a few guys about some assistance so will update accordingly.

Yup, apparently that is the easy way to do the swap.
Max (the guy I was telling you about cut his firewall as well.

He also did the lowering of the cross member.

my issue with cutting the firewall is the lovely persons at LO...first thing they would tell me is that it tampered with. That is because the chassis number lies exactly where needs to be cut.

Found a nice rear sump JZ setup last week so that just joined the list of contenders..cheaper than an SR20 and much easier swap as the suspension setup won't need moving or the firewall won't need cutting.

I welcome the JZ swap..................maybe because I am biased when it comes to Toyota.

1JZ is the new SR20...and it'll actually be worth the effort.

Yo! Don't be on that there Conrad.

But yes, your point is valid with regards to the feasibility of the JZ swap.
The only down side is the price of a gearbox.
Once OP can pass that hurdle, then his options are never ending.

it comes with auto transmission and the FD chassis is originally auto so will keep it auto for the while until funds are available..

also have access to a 2JZ n/a that was turbo'd in Japan with the original 5 Speed and all necessary harness for a swap
