Fellahs...buying a '04 Subi STI...(updated)

Postby TRINIOUTLAW » February 3rd, 2007, 9:47 pm

Here's the scoupe...one of my customers is in the Military and is being shipped out of the country. Now he has a beautiful well modified 2004 STI that's he want's to sell. He came by and asked if I could help him with getting a sale. Well we met today and he gave me a deal that really had me thinking about buying it for myself. I told him that I will get back to him on Monday...but trust me..i'm getting a steal of'a deal. What i'm thinking is to get it and use it for my R&D work on the Subaru engines and products..what do you guys think?

ive got a great project for u...

buy the scooby, play with the engine if u like, but do it outta the car. what i want u to do is put in a evo 9 mivec in there.

nevewr heard of such a build. that would be a great, unique, controversial project thats gonna create a stir

dm16, ive been in a toyota for the last few months. i blew the gearbox on the civic last year and well just piecing it togethe rslowly and going to be sold...

its just that some people have an inferiority complex. before they stop to think about what i said in the first place. it would be a unique and controversial project.

Think of it, u see a mag cover with evo powered subie pwroling the streets on fl, wont u wanna read about it? wouldnt u want to find out whats the biuld? and who was crazy enough to do it?

If u wanna make it in the car world, u have to dare to be different, and push the envelope on things that would just scare the simple minded.

What deedeedee doesnt know is some of the better tuners i know tune subies, and from the work and r&d ive done on the evo thus far, the most of the help has come from tsoc. These are the cnuts who come on tuner for a social scene and fight down which civic slower than which b14, and which evo faste rthan which subaru. The simple fact of the matter is, at the average tuning level anyone can be the faster. It just depends on how deep ure pockets are. So it had nothing to do with me insulting subaru. thats just u feeling stupid with ure small piggy. Infact, if u were an alpha male, u could have come up with " finally the 4g63 would be in a good chaisis"... alas. inferiority complex.

Is it that time of the month? no inferiority complex here mam. I just was adding to the fact that I know you to own / drive a civic. Don't get all red between your legs hunny. So its a sloyota your rolling with now? alrighty then.

Hows the evo build?

BTW I like the 4g63 where it is... the boxer suits the scoobie just fine. Then again im thesame honda guy who was looking into a sr20det swap. So I honestly don't mind the idea... just that scoobies have such a sweet sound... no need for a normal 4 I like my boxer engine thank you very much... but it would be interesting

DM out, want me to pickup some midol for you?

So far I take it that most of you support the idea. Lately...we have been doing alot of Subaru work...hell that's how I met this guy and I truly like the idea of doing something different for a change. The way I see it... is that it would give me an opportunity to really learn alot more about the flat four design as well as spending more dyno tuning time. I already have experience tuning with some of the EMS systems for the Subie like UTEC, Hydra EMS and Cobb Accessport but now if I get the car I could really spend more time fine tuning the systems in my never ending quest to making reliable horsepower. Don't get me wrong I luv my 4G63T engines and I can say this with absolute confidence that i've done everthing you could possibly think about to an EVO with great success...but I think i'm ready for some new challenges. Thanks for all the advice..I will make my decision tomorrow. BTW..here is the mod list on the car..

Color: Blue wth the Gold BBS wheels and BF Goodrich Tyres

Mods:

Engine: Cosworth Camshafts In/Ex

Induction: Perrin GT35R Turbo kit, HKS SSQ BOV

Fuel: Perrin Fuel System, Power Enterprises 850cc Injectors

Cooling: Perrin FMIC, Koyo Radiator

Electronics: Greddy Profec B EBC, Greddy TT, Alpine flip up screen cd player

Exhaust: Perrin Down Pipe, Perrin Extractors, Perrin Up- Pipe, HKS Catback Exhaust

Drivetrain: Exedy Twin Plate Clutch, Driveshaft Shop stage 3 Axles, Carbonfiber Driveshaft

Suspension: JIC Coilover suspension, Hotchkis front & rear sway bars

hmm, the mod list is impressive, but isnt that kinda defeating the purpose?

i mean, if ure planned on expanding ure horizons a bit here, y take a car thats already been around? id want to start with a stocker...

but then again, whats ure plan when u do ge this subie, that is if u do. btw, if u do buy the car, when i pass through, i wanna ride!

I agree with Hutrini...would be good for business...you should do it.

Then later on as you feel more comfortable with the platform, I think Silvermike's idea would generate great publicity. I could definetly see once or more magazine's/tuner videos doing an article on such a 'controversial' swap.
