its a trend started in japan...i'm not sure of the reasoning but apparently a wide rim and narrow tyre allows the sidewall to be stretched (obviously) and this in itself allows for a much more progressive and manageable breakaway for traction. Drifters tend to adopt this style much more readily

actually...from what I've seen, they can go thru alot of abuse up to the point of a normal tyre. I haven't really seen lateral movement alone being a cause of concern for the sidewall losing contact, only hard and sudden jolts ontop of that lateral pressure.
One problem is actually getting the bead to sit so the tyre can inflate. I kno of onle local mounter who solved that problem by using a bicycle tube

13" in the rear ...wide mofo!
i'll settle with a cool 9 or 10" in the back and 8 infront ...dont like overfenders, the most is a roll and slight flare

Yeah but yuh hadda put the wider wheels in front eh.

because of the damping effect of the larger diameter wheels upfront the neagtive g forces will infact help to curb the pendelum effect thus effectively preventing most fwd motorvehicles from loosing said vertical loss of stability otherwise known as flippin

17X9 +3/-2 215/45 all around.

For real :|
that wide rim + narrow tire combo does nothing for me except cause concern about tires leaving wheels at speed and horrible curb damage to expensive ass wheels.

Even if it makes breaking traction easier just go with the regular setup of properly sizing tires to wheels and turn up the boost. If traction is still an issue to lose, you might be driving a honda and not even realise it.
