If all those Italians were to fire up, it would make a great symphony.... the Maserati could take the front line followed by Ferrari & Lamborghini. IMHO
MG man u realise in the pics with the Murias, the first one can pass as a new car. Not sure if it is a concept but damn with those crims and skirts and paint makes the car look like a 2012 concept car. nice
Gooding and Co. is a relatively newcomer on the auction scene but in short time has made quite a splash with both the cars offered and total sales. This 1956 Maserati A6G/54 Berlinetta to be auctioned at this year's January 22nd Scottsdale auction is a prime example of the cars that the company has been able to represent.
The Maserati A6G introduced in 1954 shared the underpinning of their famous 2 Liter race cars and was targeted at the 1950s high end GT market. As such the A6G was offered with bespoke bodies by the leading carrozzerias of the day including Zagato, Frua and Allemano who did this example.
This car was sold new in Italy, made its way to Canada and ultimately the US while along the away have its interesting Verde Suro (Mackerel Green) with a green interior changed to red over green. The current owner repainted the car the original color and refurbished the mechanics while installing a full-synchromesh gear box.
(Jewel-like 1.9L DOHC twin-plug inline 6 cylinder with triple carburetors)
The car's current color suits its subtle lines and serves to bring out the brightwork much better than the aforementioned red. Pre-auction estimate is $375,000 to $400,000 and it will be interesting to see if the Maserati lovers in the audience will beat this estimate.
