MG Vehicles

Postby markmaddness » August 24th, 2021, 12:34 am

So I saw that Massy Motors are going to start selling MG vehicles locally.
What are your thoughts on this? I’m not familiar of MG’s current offerings or what would be brought here but it’s interesting. So far the only model shown is the MG-3 priced at $169k.

Was it Ansa that tried to bring them many years ago?

MGs are no longer built in the UK. China and/or Thailand. They are imported into the UK so build quality should be better than your typical chinese made car. Don't know about the legendary MG "reliability" though.

MG ZS EV is the only thing I might be interested in with them. But Ansa has been selling a number of Baic X25 so Massy wants to try with a more recognised name among the Chinese cars.

In T&T the Korean SUVs are taking market share from the Japanese SUVs. But it seems like they are using the Chinese to take away from the Koreans. The MG HS seems very attractive at that price. My biggest concern is with the dual-clutch transmission but Tuscons have been coming with those recently too.

I *think* (stressing on the think) they are out of stock and are awaiting a shipment.

Introductory Prices on the basic versions:
MG HS- $229,000
MG ZS- $185,000
MG 3- $169,000

There is more in depth details of different trims and their pricing on this thread:

Any MG HS owners here? Been researching and watching a lot of videos and really love it so far. People tend to knock it because being made in a Chinese factory but same factory producing VW and Audi etc. The build quality from reviews and owners since 2019 has been excellent thus far. Any trini owners please share your experience with massy and well the quality of the vehicle...thanks!

Massy has a virtual 360° of their San Fernando MG Showroom

https://www.mgmotortt.com/showroom/

You can also view the interior of the vehicles

The MG HS Essence is really premium feeling with high end features for the price.

Well for starters, I export these MG’s (among other cars) from the UK to T and T and have had various demonstrator models as my daily drivers over the last few months. For the price they really are unbeatable. Really well made, full of tech. Admittedly they have all been the electric models that I’ve tested (ZS EV and MG 5 EV) but the performance, features, looks and practicality are fantastic for the price point and so far reliability has been great on them including consumables like brakes etc at over 35,000 miles.
Trying to upload some pics / vids but not working at the moment .

From everything I heard it’s all good looks and comfort without anything reliable under the hood

Probably true of the gas models, the electrics have been the ones I’ve used!
