Voltage boosting?

Raising voltage on a stock alternator vehicle via diodes... What are the pros & cons of this?

My hilux idles 13.9v, I would like to raise it to about 14.5v!

If its a vigo/1kd model
There is a diode you can purchase for the fuse box that gives a 0.5v boost

It doesnt work on the revo/1gd tho
