Weird request

Postby Matthewtrini » December 28th, 2024, 8:03 am

Hello Ive been lurking on this site for information about subwoofer enclosure there's no info about that said sub that I can find on the net in detail expect here

this guy riadb had a enclosure made for his 7500's yep in 2024 im trying to get an enclosure as his but I did got a box tune to 38hz but it isn't sounding the way I thought it would the subs not moving (im getting little movements its like the sub isnt getting enough power) as I think his own moved judging from the comments in his post because the video isn't available on YouTube anymore try calling the number on his profile pic that # seems to be out of order its years but its worth a try :)
anyone knows if he's still doing car audio or has a contact for him

Riad died from covid.

Subs don't move much at the tuning frequency.

Refer to an older vid with my image dynamics. Subs don't move much at the tuning frequency. I've since returned lower.

Your box at 38hz? Weird my sub didn’t even move that much. Someone told me I’m not giving them enough power I got a 1500bdcp Rockford on them @1ohms I think they are getting more than enough power they need… I was just curious about the movements but the bass sounds great the music on the hold sounds very well to me I don’t know anything much about car audio I read a lot the guy that made the box is good at his stuff

Closer to 28hz.

It could be vehicle acoustics, positioning etc. Mind sharing some box specs? Like internal volume, port cross sectional area and length?

I’ll ask the guy that made the box I most believe the subs don’t move because of the port length I think I’ll let him make a box35hz I’ll post the information for you to see tonight

Do a descending sine wave sweep with sensible power without any subsonic filters or highpasses, take note of the movement of the cone as well as the amount of air exiting the port. At tuning, you'll notice uncanny little movement of the cone simultaneously with the most amount of air coming out the port, followed by swiftly increased cone movement as the the box unloads below tuning frequency. Winisd had a great signal generator where you can just generate any frequency to fine tune...alternatively if you have the box dimensions, wall thickness and port length, it can be calculated.

a loudspeaker box doesnt work like that though
you dont build a box tuned to a particular freq and drop in a speaker and run with it.

ideally you measure the t/s specs of the speaker and a box is modelled around those specs so that the
box & speaker behave predictably to the model

when you take a box and speaker which arent matched/modelled for each other the results will be unpredictable....
