i was suppoed to check that electronics place but i didn't get the time today so i will check them nex week.

yo dude did u check the contacts on the face and deck? take some rubbing alcohol take out the face and use a cotton swab clean the contacts on the face and deck body see if it helps.. this is sometimes a cause of this problem

pioneer sells the ribbon for usd$12 or so ... u can change it out yourself or have any shop do it...

Back then I had Vishnu Elect fix it for me.

I cant remember the cost but it wasnt that expensive to fix.
Was alot easier than ordering the ribbon myself and tryin to change it out.

the ribbon is 450 by shams electronics and well if you are halfway decent at scrapping your toys down and putting them back together, and of course soldering then you can do it yourself. Did this to a buddy of mine's 690ub.

before changing the ribbon check to see desire volts and the resistance across the terminals.Usually the volts should be around 5v and 3.75 volts once u getting a voltage the ribbon dont need to be replace. Most decks the memory and function is on the face circuit board IC and that IC is near impossible to change becuz of the Computer print circuit board (CPB) . So before jumping to conclusion check those things becuz a ribbon can be a bit pricey
