Need help designing a box...

Postby Graphix1 » November 7th, 2010, 7:47 pm

I'm going to build a box for my two tens (JBl P1022) But I'm not sure what cubic space to go with and if i should go single or double chambered.....

Specs here>>> http://www.jbl.com/resources/Brands/jbl ... _27_06.pdf

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Ok,So I'm lookin at 3cuft before or after port dispacement...for a single chambered enclosure

They advise 1.5 per driver after a round port displacement but i'm using a slot port...which should have much more port area than a pipe port......

Can't say that.. You will need to calculate the actual volume occupied by the port to get the maths right.. I usually draw all my enclosures in Google Sketch-up so I can know before hand the exact net internal volume and port volume..

If you not familiar with Sketch-up, give the RE calculator a try..
http://reaudio.com/speaker_box/LPort_Box_Calc.html

btw, I am seeing a recommended volume of 1.25cu.ft with a recommended port tuning of 33Hz. I assume each of those subs would displace around 0.1cu.ft, so aim for 2.7cu.ft (1.25+1.25+0.1+0.1) total internal volume. Tune to your personal liking..

Yeah i was using the re calculator but i couldn't copy and past d specs cause is flash....

i thought was 1.5 yes, good thing you point that out....

i'll build it 2.7cu.ft compensating for port displacement i'll tune to 33...my current box is tuned to 46
