W.T.K reverse camera

Ok I installed a reverse camera and would like to know if it is working correctly I have a pioneer 5500 bhs head unit and the camera connected to it,the only way I see any video when reverse is engaged is that I have to press the menu button and press the av function button,the installer who installed it said that is how it supposed to work so I would just like a second opinion as this sounds funny to me .....any info will be appreciated

nope it should go automatic when you engage reverse

check the deck options for camera polarity....thats how you set it to turn on automatically

That right there is a wire at the back of the HU so when in reverse a signal goes to it. it cuts everything the screen shows and show the camera input and when you take it out of reverse everything returns to normal. In pioneer i believe it is violet and white. This sees a positive signal.
