This idea has changed actually.. The box turned out wider than I had estimated when I was looking for a location for the port..

In the position shown above, it is quite likely for rear passengers to hit the port with their feet when entering the vehicle.. Also, the external port idea might look abit 'geeky'..

I am currently looking at doing an internal 2.25" PVC port, one elbow will be required..

Final stages of the build now... And what better way to show it than by pictures-

Cut-out for the port:
Image

A view of how thick the side wall of the enclosure is. That is a 0.5" drill bit next to the port cut-out:
Image

Placed the PVC pipe port in the enclosure and resined it in place:
Image

Left some extra pipe outside so that when the resin hardens, I can cut out the excess pipe to make it flush with the side:
Image

The excess port was cut off and sanded smooth:

Now For Installing The Amplifier:
Amplifier in use is a Premier Class A - GM-X1040
This is as much details as I can find right now about it -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280511034895

The amplifier will be placed under the passenger seat powering the door speakers and Sundown E8. Luckily, there are 2 screws that was there under the seat which was holding something that is no longer there. (I think my bro took whatever it was out to mount a small Crunch amplifier we had long time ago that was powering the doors. Guess it wasn't important... ):
Image

A sheet of 0.25" MDF was cut to fit the base of the amplifier for easy mounting:
Image

Image

And finally, everything back in place:

I'm pleased with the results for a first try...
Will get some vids up tomorrow and give a little comment on it's performance... :drinking:

Still have to carpet the enclosure, put a protective grill over the sub and silicone the wire entering the box...

Port tuning is somewhere around 38 - 40Hz.. With a lower tuning, the overall efficiency of the enclosure went down and more power would have been needed to get the output we were looking for.

Even at that fairly high tuning, it plays surprisingly deep..

I tried a 10" and it couldn't fit between the front seats, space is too narrow from what i saw.. Installing 2 10"s there will be alot more difficult..

No need to... The tight fit holds it in place. So far, it hasn't moved with all the driving we did.

Ha ha ha ha.... Yea. Was planning on using the Dremil Multi-Tool, so i cut as much circles as possible. Then I realized I had a fine metal bit for the jigsaw. Good news was that the holes made life easier with the turning of the saw since it's a small cutout.

Well... It's about time I posted the finished product of this post.
I finally carpeted the enclosure (and gosh what a pain it was to carpet). Here it is:

As you can see, there is nothing to hold it in place other than the nice snug fit. We drive this van hard and through rough roads. The enclosure never jumped much less to move out of place.

That is the port on the side.

Sitting on the side with plenty of room for my feet. And i'm not exactly small.
Image

And yes, you can sit in the middle thus fitting 3 in the back without problems.

very nice indeed, and it does not look that obtrusive, if your tint is dark enough, and you put a grille on that sub, no prying eyes would even tell its there.

That's the plan self. Right now I'm trying to source a grille that will blend in nice with the sub and enclosure and if possible, offer some protection for the sub. If anyone got one send me a pm please.

Thanks for the great responses guys...
