Audiocontrol DQT

Postby shotcaller » May 7th, 2010, 6:04 pm

Hey tuners

I searched but i didnt find anything on this in ICE

If i get one of these can i by pass my preamp and crossover??
Im considering buying one..I would like to kno how much will this unit benefit me because it isnt exactly cheap.

My current processing is the clarion preamp and clarion crossover.
How much of a difference would this unit make over my current processing?

The amps are the old school ppi pcx series...I think the crossovers are supposed to be good on them and my deck is a pioneer 5100ub

ohh u is the guy with the pcx amps,
the onboard crossovers on these are bess so no need for external crossover

but still a dqt is like one pair in one pair out, so u gonna have to use one line out from the deck,
the only solution is ur bass amp having a bass remote

Yea the bass amp duz have a bass remote.. Hmmm

Would this make a much bigger difference than the crossover and the preamp i already have? And is any line driver such a matrix necessary???

If i were you, and designing "just another gallary set" then no i would not.

If you want to go beyond the regular gallary setups everyone has, abandon the clarion preamp, and crossover; and buy an audiocontrol 6xs,matrix, and dqt.

But buying new equipment is not going to get you to sound better if you cannot use it properly. If i were you i would get someone "professional" to tune this set , preferably somene with an RTA, because 30 bands of EQ is not easy to set by ear(trust me i tried).

After you buy the stuff though you are going to want to run the front output of your deck to the inputs on the DQT, then from the DQT to the 6XS, then from the 6XS to the Matrix, and from the matrix to the amps. This will ensure the best line drive, crossover, and EQ available.

And if you just like all the other gallary men on tuner, then in time you might become an SQ man and will be glad you bought those things.

You don't NEED a preamp nor a bass remote. I've never even thought to use a pre in the systems I had. The bass remote is ok but again not necessary.

if you wanna bypass both the cross and pre with one unit you dont think the dqxs is the better way to go?

Viking I cant afford that :(

I cannot afford both the dqt and the 6xs at the moment.. After I sell my clarion preamp and x-over I would get $1000 so what would you say is the better unit for me to buy first.. The 6xs or the DQT? I wud be buying one of them as soon as I get a sale for my clarion processing which is $450 for preamp and $550 for crossover :)

Or instead of the DQT I get a EQS or EQX???

Please help, The decision would have to be made quickly

lol^^^

buy the 6xs first, you will have the bandpass, and 2 highpass for mids as you want, and you will also have a bandpass section for your sub

you already have the clarion preamp, as much as i don't like preamps, the crossover/preamp combo will get the job done until you can afford to buy the dqt or similar product

a crossover will make the major difference in this case, so just buy the 6xs for now

i agree with ssc..i was faced eith this same decision not to long ago as you know.lol..but once your deck processing is decent the 6xs is the best go..6xs is really an amazing piece of equipment.very easy to use as well.
