burn cds

Postby slow323 » May 18th, 2010, 9:25 pm

yeah guys i've noticed that when i make a mp3 cd top play in my car it dosent pick up all the folders

im using sonic digital media le to make the cds each cd would have five to seven folders with each folder having 20 tracks but no more than 30

but when the cd is created and put in the car which is the factory head unit in a 2007 civic it never picks up the first folder it would start at the second folder or the third and the first folder would cease to exist

what i want to knw am i burning it wrong or is the deck, has anyone experienced this

Here are some tips:

After Burning, test the disk on your PC/Laptop to make sure that the disc is being burnt correctly
Try in another MP3 unit
Try another burning software
Try another PC/Laptop

If all fails, then buy original! lol...

Could be a problem with the deck, format you burning in not ideal for the deck or lens probably need cleaning...

easy fix - in the future make a dummy folder as the first folder.

now the player reads the root directory first (files that are outside any folder), then the folders in alphabetical order so make sure you name the dummy folder properly. if anything put a real short mp3 on it that will consume negligible space on the disk (cut a 30 seconds of a song and save it as an mp3.)

i know it's not the best solution but it's a nice ratch.

^^that's why i tell him put a small clip he don't actually need to listen to in the first folder alone.

let the player skip that and go on to the folders with the music that he actually wants to listen to.

well the first folder in the cd doesnt be a folder.. it does be the root directory in the cd.. so you should have nothing to worry about...

Read the manual for the HU. Often the cd needs to be burnt in a certain format, and there are limitations to folders and/or files and their structure.

i agree from my experiences the first folder is usually the root folder.

if you do this it'll skip the first folder with the song you don't need to hear. just make sure you name the dummy folder so that it appears as the first folder in alphanumeric order. the player will check numbers first then a-z names, so a folder named "1 soca" will be read before a folder named "dancehall".

get it?
