i know, i know....but cud some one please edify my as to why these gallery men or even sound boys on de beach or by a bar does have to pop their car hood and have it propped by either a beer bottle or any other random bottle of that sort....is this style or does this have a purpose??????....jus asking eh.....cuz i dont know.....

Some are sponcered by the various drink companies and this is one method by which they take advantage of the advertising space made available on the car.


Others do it so as to introduce cooler air to the alternator.


But in reality the stig said do it so it must be done...

had a feeling bout de sponsors but as to inducing cold air??esp wen de car not in motin???if dey cud afford all ah dem boss amps,u think they cudda jus put an additional cooling fan wait and external manual switch,or ah lasko standing fan with an extention cord and an inverter

I'd say for a bit more air to the alternator and for easy access incase anything goes wrong or needs attention in the engine bay...Even in car shows you see them pop (but not prop) the bonnet when they pull up to the line for competition.Most times its just to put something to hold the throttle open a bit more so the engine can idle at a higher rpm to charge back the system a bit faster.

its done to allow the engine heat to escape as the car is not moving but the engine is still running

choice of prop varies but doesnt make a difference

^^^exactly....when the bonnet is propped open even though the car is not in motion when the fans are blowing hot air will exit the engine bay faster.(cooler alt equates better charging)..Also what 5forward is saying is true.Many guys use a piece of wood or something to increase the rev of the engine (higher rpm = more stable voltage)..So they leave it open until their finished and ready to lock back up.
