Does it happen when the car's engine is switched off or when the engine has been started a nd running?
If it happens when the engine is running then that's engine noise.
Ground the negative RCA behind the deck to the body of the car(chassis).
Either that or gains are set too high.

This topic has been discussed before on the forum. Do a search.

Verify all components have the same grounding point.
If that doesn't work, then adjust the grounding jumpers.
If that doesn't work, put a muting plug on the input of the 3.1 (where the deck plugs in), and verify that the noise is still there.
If the noise goes away, the deck is the problem.

I'm sure you have RCA cables used out both inputs and outputs throughout your system. The negative one is the black, white or neutral jack out of the pair of RCA's depending on the type and brand of RCA's you have.

Also, this is a question i will ask as well.

Are you talking about the left channel RCA?

Yes, you need to be corrected bro. When that man said 'negative RCA'. I'm guessing he meant the negative RCA potential. This is irregardless of colour. It is the sheild conductor of any RCA, irregardless of being left, or right channels.

^^ That's what I do and that's what I meant but ai guess I did not explain in depth. I do whenever I get engine noise and I do it to that part of the RCA (the shield). I do it to the -tive side though and IMO i.e the one that is not red or the one that's on the right.

Thanks for clearing that up Kasey.
