I had a Mexico made d34 Yellow in my galant for 6 years, transferred it to the lancer for another 2 then replaced it because it was dropping to 10v when starting. Put it in the wingroad as a supplemental battery then sold that car. Slight swelling on top so I doubt it lasted much longer.

My vehicles charging systems were always periodically checked and never had an issue.

A lot more than I expected, my previous USA made one lasted a little less than 6 years. I was skeptical of the Mexico made one because I read some bad reviews online but my experience was the opposite.

My old yellow made its way back home
Sticker still there, 7/11

Severely discharged, going to put it on the tender and see what happens.

They work well. Used one for about 3 years with an inverter to power a fan for when electricity goes for the baby. I usually recharged it when it was severely discharged. Gave it away when I got the generator.

When I bought it price wasn't bad, think I paid around 1300. Not sure the price now. Steve's had the d34 yellow top Optima on sale for 1950 a while ago.

They have it listed for 1530. Not sure what warranty they offer.

Pricesmart give 2 years full warranty and 1 year pro rated, 3 years total. Good battery only fault I have is the negative pole started to become lose, saw the same thing on some else red top from Pricesmart. Coincidence? Still working though after 3 years. Paid 1350 when I bought it. Black casing optima batteries are starting batteries, not recommended for deep cycle or music.

Pole coming loose? Is it that the pole is screwed into the battery?
Just did a quick search and saw many ppl complained about it.
My main purpose is just under twice the price for hopefully twice the longevity with minor weight on supporting a very small music system. Emphasise very small. One amp at 600w.

Heat shields do work in prolonging battery life.

Heat is the enemy anything to reduce the amount of heat the battery is in contact with will help.

How did you recharge it as I have one that was just sitting around for a while and found it to be dead. I hooked it up on a trickle charger and it's not charging. Any advice?

When you say dead, what is the resting voltage presently?

Severely discharged for me was 9-10v

I have had two Red tops from PriceSmart (can't recall the price). First one was installed in my brother's WRX - which was kept by me and was hardly driven... After about ~3 years - it seems it started to not retain the charge for longer than a couple of days.. Recently I observed the other that's in my Xtrail started behaving similarly after ~3 years... Coincidence ? I don't use the vehicle very often either... So I have to top it back up with my Schumacher charger (set at 10A charging rate) before using it.. or jump start it if I'm in a hurry..
Yellow top in my Legacy going strong 3 years +.. Other yellow tops in other my dad's Hilux, and my Primera are also going strong 3+ years... All of those Optimas had been subjected to being discharged to low states (<10V) and either recharged or jump started and going strong still... For a small audio system - I would guess the Yellow top should be adequate.. I don't have much experience with the XS Power - I know they are 'better' for music.... But I don't how they would fare if they were periodically discharged (eg. if the vehicle not being used often)...

You should tug on your pole daily.Or have somebody to do it for you.
Just in case it gets shaky
