improving midbass in this door?

Postby altec » May 22nd, 2021, 9:23 pm

Ok this is a picture of a sportage door just like mine. It seems that the inner door is a frame with stuff bolted on. Has anyone partially sealed a door with so much open areas? Looking to improve midbass.

not hard to do , use at least a 1/8" thick flexible pvc sheet which u can get a piece by any sign making shop , cut out shape & secure it to sheet metal with self tapping screws [rivet nut & bolts wud be d better way if u have d tool to do it] , if its a odd uneven surface shape that wont sealed with flat pvc sheet then u will have to make it contoured with fibreglass & resin

then u simple sound mat over this patch panel & surrounding areas too ... i sure u can find videos of this on youtube

PVC sheets or ABS plastic sheets is the go. Heat to conform if its a little uneven (it does not need not seal perfectly) Rivnut and screw this in place for serviceability. Damping material over the installed panels as Rovin said. This will create the seal where necessary while adding mass.
