The in-between imo is a larger speaker---say an 8 inch woofer

Or
If u sticking to the 6inch size use separate speakers instead of a component set.
Separate speakers with a bit more power handling and ts specs based on your application

E.g) sb acoustic, dayton, silver flute, stevens audio etc and match to the tweeter of your choice

In a car yes if you want your tone sounding more accurate. My door mids crossed at 60 Hz
80 should suffice
And if am opening the doors attempting to get a little loud where is safe?

Is either you going hard at a sq tune or you maintaining being a loudman.

@100hz its is very difficult to integrate the sub well and have it not sound localized to the rear of the vehicle. Try a the 80 hz and time align the sub!
So there is no in-between sq and spl?
What's your location?

Already have equipment, pair of resilient sounds es65c and pair of arc audio silks on a jd 400.4 in stereo. I absolutely love how it sounds butt you know sometimes your may want to just get a little loud. Was wondering what i could do to be able to open the doors and get it sounding loud without changing equipment. Spec on the 6.5s attached

how is everything connected

is 4 chan being used as each channel separately, ch 1&2 on each tweeter & ch 3\4 on each 6.5

or amp bridged so being used as a 2 chan where each half of amp is connected to 1 pair of tweeter & speaker ? ...

Every thing is separated. 3 & 4 for mids (left right) same for tweets on 1 & 2. I just attempted crossing it at 80hz with 24db slope. With the volume turned up is doesnt sound to healthy for the 6.5s na

ok well d way u have it connected is fine

so if ur speakers rated 75 rms with a 50up freq response & amp is also 75 rms then it sounds like u need to tune ur eq settings ...

that 24db slope is kinda sharp cut off at 80...you can try a 12db at 60hz or 12db at 80

I tried the 80hz not to long ago. It didnt sound to healthy on the speakers passing mid vol. But i have no issues with the sound you know, it sounds great. I just wanted to know how can i get it to play louder like an SQL set up, with my doors open to get loud sometimes na, like a small gallery

My mango tree tech advice, go passive on the tweets, bridge amp with bridged channels to mid and tweet, crossover at 160 and gee fyah. Make them mids bark.

But in honesty it's hard to get the best of both worlds. Pick a fight and stick to it because trying to get both will result to in losing both ways.

Had one bridged on a set of 3ohm infinity speakers. It's a JL amp not a boss

If i bridge it will go down to 2ohm. I dont believe the amp is recommended for that

put a condenser & resister on d tweeter by itself & come back & say what ohm it reads on a multimeter ... u can also connect it to d speaker & see what is d final ohm

Getting good midbass involves a lot more than choosing some arbitrary electrical x-over point for your front speakers. For example, the x-over points should be chosen to ensure that a good phase relationship is established between the subs and front speakers through the x-over region.

True enough. But x over point at 100 hz cutting off most of your midbass.Just saying

Dont get it wrong guys. Good midbass does not come from crossing the fronts super low, it comes from the relationship with the sub and woofers i.e. alignment, coherency etc. .

Car audio subs generally do not do well above 80Hz.

an update , just spoke to OP on d phone , so far he has set his gains & is trying various crossover points , at near end of conversation i asked if he using EQ he said no, i said thats a big part of it [same thing i posted above 2 days ago] ... lets wait n see if can adjust his eq to make his speakers sound better now

This!

And this is coming from someone who ran subs in my doors for years and now run 8" midbasses, that are crossed at 60 for daily btw. I have doubts about crossing a regular 6.5" below 60-70.

Midbass is that range between 80 and 500 Hz. If your ACOUSTIC x-over point for your speakers is at 100 Hz, then you may be losing some midbass. However in-car there is usually a BIG difference between the electrical x-over (what you said on your head-unit, DSP or amp) and the acoustic x-over (actual -3dB point in the midbass driver's measured output) because of the impact of the car's cabin on the response at low frequencies.

The problem with aiming for a lower cutoff point of 80 Hz for 6.5" midbass speakers is that they could run out of excursion at lower frequencies, particularly if you're like me and like to play music a bit loud on the weekends :-).

I've attached the current response curves for the subwoofer and front speakers in my car. There are two issues: one that I can deal with (the 200 Hz peak in the subwoofer's filtered response ) and one that I can't (the dip around 70 Hz). Well, I can theoretically deal with the latter by choosing a much lower x-over point for my 6.5" drivers, but then the system is going to sound like crap if it's turned up.

Anyway, the acoustic x-over point seems to be just above 100 Hz according to the measurements. Want to take a guess at what the electrical x-over points are for the subwoofer and the front speakers?

100 hz sub im guessing.
In the process of tuning still, so no curves for my system just yet.
Just a question, I have tweeters on my dash. What frequency should I highpass at.I currently have them at 2k Hz

2k is fine if the FS of the tweet is below 1kHz.
