If you going without amp, the C1s sound very good straight out of the deck

Review of JL Audio 6.5" C1 components powered off android deck power

i must say upfront that i am a dealer for these speakers but i will try to give an unbiased opinion

heard it a few hrs ago in a mazda 3 BM model , owner bought speakers from me & did his own install in stock speaker locations & tweeters on those triangle pieces behind side mirrors

owner is still tweaking\tuning , after 2 or 3 songs d way he had it set tweeter [which is metal dome] were a tad too rich for me so i asked him to lower 3 highs eq bands [cant remember exact hz] , sounded much better ..... then we tried random genres of music : needs some fine tuning but overall sounded very full, tight, rich, light & airy , for it being Jl's entry level series its very impressive for being on deck power

i suspect it cud have more midbass if they were put on an amp & sound deadening on doors , loudness is sufficient for most ppl but if u like very clean clear sounding music with even deck power it will satisfy ...

Just a note with the C1s, which I believe would affect the performance from the deck if you going active with tweeters on front channel and woofer on rear.
The woofer is 3 ohms and the tweeter is 5 ohms.Tune accordingly.
The C2 is 4/4.

It may not be your door treatment. Play midbass only while in vehicle and doors closed with glass up. Then open your door. If the midbass gets a whole lot better then its your vehicle acoustics.

What I discovered this morning is that crossover slope affects midbass quite a lot.Well mids in general.I had my mids on a 12 db slope.I changed it to 24 . Sounds a whole lot more pronounced to me now

Fellas, i personally have a little set up in my car, rovin & xfactor should be aware. But i came from a more loud music setup, brought a new vehicle an said ill give the sq a try if you wanna call it that. Well u guessed it, i quickly got accustomed with it and i dont really want to change my equipment.
The mids is just a pair of resilient sounds es65c and a pair of arc audio x2 tweets, on a jl jd400.4. Had some issues with the amp but it works fine now. Mids are crossed at 100hz-2500hz and tweets are 2500hz all the way up, 24db slope on everything, all tuned with dd1,doors deaden . I notice when i open my doors and turn the volume up the mids gets a bit muddy but if i cross it at 160hz it sounds better when played loud. Any tips on making sq louder and continue sounding clean without changing equipment?

In a car yes if you want your tone sounding more accurate. My door mids crossed at 60 Hz
80 should suffice

Is either you going hard at a sq tune or you maintaining being a loudman.

@100hz its is very difficult to integrate the sub well and have it not sound localized to the rear of the vehicle. Try a the 80 hz and time align the sub!

So there is no in-between sq and spl?

80 is a good enough all around cut off point for most ppl

100 on mids will limit midbass, 100 for sub is not my personal taste but it works for some installs\situations & personal taste , loud\gallery men love that though ...

There is!
Called SQL. You can still go loud with cutting at around 80 hz or less.Fuzz supposed to have some loud af 6 inch XFire comps .I believe they take around 100 RMS.The range on them was from around 45 HZ up.Cross those at 80 hz, time align, sound deaden like a champ and you in a gear.
