WTK.WTB: Lithium Battery Car Audio

Postby slickrick777 » September 6th, 2022, 10:49 am

Well seeing these lithium batteries taking over those standard heavy car audio batteries! Was looking at maybe adding in 1 to my upcoming car audio system! Will most likely be running a 1500rms mono, 800 or 1000rms mids and 250.4 tweeter amplifier to the upcoming system! What are the best recommendations atm and who has them etc?

From listening to people

1: 1 bank of yinglong or xs power or lishen should do fine as long as you have an externally regulated alternator to ensure you hitting 15+ v charge rate. 1 bank is said to deliver 3000-4000 rms....some even say 5k....shrugs shoulders

2: there is a bad batch of lishen on the market so be very careful who you buying from.

3: you can try a blackout system where you get management system etc

NB these are not my views but views of people who used the items and others who doing research. Some people still believe in AGM!

Imo the major difference with both would be size and weight. The cost can be almost the same or depending on how much you using, lithium Banks could add up to more as you have to get balancers etc. On the flip side, you may require less wires with lithiums as opposed to AGM.

My 5 cents

stark_007 wrote:That’s only 2500 rms. Using lithium batteries will be of no benefit to you at all. Just use a good deep cycle AGM Northstar/XS power and do a big 3 upgrade and you’ll be fine. Don’t go down that road of lithium because things get expensive very quickly.

2500 is some serious power, this guy has 2500 watts and a superbank cap.

battery technology is changing so lithium may get cheaper.

Op trust me, 1 good battery in-front is all you need. 2500rms is NOT a lot of power. Depending on your amps you won’t even see close to 2500rms since amplifiers, depending on its class aren’t 100% efficient. It has nothing like “cheaper” lithium. Please don’t waste money. 1 AGM is all you need and do the big 3 upgrade. You’ll be fine.

Call up Rodney audio or Team 2lo2flow. Both of these dealers will explain to you that 2500 rms is small power. All you need is a good battery in-front.

When I say 2500 I mean 2500 not those paperweights you guys accustomed to that say 10kw and spit out 600 watts with about 15% efficiency.

1kw with constant 14.4V supply will have you feeling stupid and uncomfortable. 1kw is where you reach the threshold of where a stock charging system can accommodate. Battery bank is reserve capacity, a reservoir you use from that your charging system replenishes. The larger it is the slower its depleted. Then there is discharge rate to factor in. All in all you are limited to your charging system, discharge rate and power delivery.

1500 watts starts to flex vehicles with moderate viseoelasticity reinforcement like its bristol board.

2500 watts starts taking it apart.

bear in mind 2500 watts is only twice as loud as 250 watts. Interpret what you will from this.

i not touching much on d topic here since its a while for me playing around with a loud system b4 lithium became available on d local market so i cant say much on that, there are plenty references online u can google to find info ... OP didnt mention his alternator capacity or if he going to upgrade that

OP said 1500 on bass & about 1000ish on mids, for me personally thats a bit heavy on d mids side though its depending on what u accustomed to hearing or ur likes, if u want to hear ur music OUTside ur vehicle & u going with bullets\drivers well then thats different, for me personally a 4x100 amp on 4 6.5" with some small tweeters is more than sufficient for IN car listening

not choosing anybody's side here : as little as 400-500 rms on bass can rough up ur vehicle depending on sub\enclosure\tuning\install etc ... 1k on bass in my daily wagon with very low bass songs make d whole trunk jerk up, shakes up d bumper & even d rear tires get a lil shake too

2500rms on bass used to get me low 150dbs when i used to be an spl competitor 15+yrs ago ... so it all depends on what kind of system or what a user thinks is plenty or how loud is loud to him personally .... :| :| :|

You had what? Like about 2kw on your incriminator sub? Seasoned men want to dive through your windows when notes drop. I think he needs like a 30 seconds in your wagon.

Rovin I know you well educated in this field. Look even SR suggested the same to another tuner. Image
