I saw exo or Steve Meade, can't remember, had put some infrared temp sensors in the frame, to sense the temp of the coil.Rovin wrote:gas not cheap like 10yrs ago so less weight is better
brand vs brand thing does cause bachanal & butthurt - all i will say imo in d past few yrs some of d not as popular brands have stepped up their game & can go up against some of d big names
when u say "Sumtng that I coukd carry to the limit" i figure u want d max performance from it, like i said box software, tuning & dont overpower it 2\3\4\5 times like how trinis love to do especially when they want to play for long periods, coils of any bess brand will heat up too much & fail
usual guide for choosing an amp is 25% more head room than d sub is rated for - i wouldnt go more than 50% over board to maintain longevity ...

i dont want any sort of mickey mouse rebuilt subs for free
if is a new factory original kit "professionally installed" i might consider it but i only buy new original factory built subs ...
During the course of today, that crossed my Mind.rollingstock wrote:I see you mentioned lows and then push to the limit.
Can't go wrong with a Orion hcca 12. Rated 2500rms but they'll handle more power easily. Factory drop in kits are also available if you fork it up lol
Aiming 3krms+ on one 12 " or 15".Dave wrote:Take a trip to Rovin shop to see the selection.
Guaranteed to find something at a very great price.

You want low, ain't no replacement for displacement. Single sub requires huge xmax, power and electrical to back it up.sMASH wrote:Aiming 3krms+ on one 12 " or 15".Dave wrote:Take a trip to Rovin shop to see the selection.

As time gojng, thinking I should wait and save up for the better build quality.
Good luck with that. Sub in cabin vs sub in truck, sub in trunk not in the cabin so more air space. Cabin is like the room it's in.sMASH wrote:Taking out the back seat on a double cab, and using one huge ass box.
I have 8 8"s for mids, but I using my own version of the Raj boxes, and need the space, so can't use two subs.
Expecting 5000rms max draw.
I want lows, but I NEEEED the mids to be pleasant,
Aiming fur 25hz center, hoping I don't bottom out too much.rollingstock wrote:Some men version of lows eh so low eh lol
What's your intended tuning or what you looking for, just lows or a sub that will play all tones and loud but still dig down into the low 20's?
If the latter can't go wrong with a DD 815.
Batteries will be on the floor behind the front seats.nervewrecker wrote:Good luck with that. Sub in cabin vs sub in truck, sub in trunk not in the cabin so more air space. Cabin is like the room it's in.sMASH wrote:Taking out the back seat on a double cab, and using one huge ass box.

Imagine a 15" in a 10x10 bedroom vs 15" in a big living room or open concept dwelling.
Will be peaky and lossy. Also, with 5kw rms you will need a battery bank of some sort. Where you fitting that?

Considering the Dayton audio ultimax, I think sealed is 3cu (yuk), ported is 4cu, but fir 20hz it has 6 cu, and another design has 12 cu fur 17hz.rollingstock wrote:sMASH wrote:Aiming fur 25hz center, hoping I don't bottom out too much.rollingstock wrote:Some men version of lows eh so low eh lol

Well you have a lot of room for the enclosure, consider a 4th order for bandwidth and the sealed portion would help protect against bottoming out. Just know the limit of your sub careful of clipping, you won't be able to see the sub.
rollingstock wrote:12cuft, what you using for an enclosure a 20ft container
