Hi all. I am interested in purchasing a toyota altis but i was warned that parts are hard to get as it only comes foreign used. I also heard that insurance is expensive..for this same reason. Can you shed some light? Thanks.

There was a problem for parts at one time. However, parts are not so difficult again with so many on the road. Car parts dealers are bringing in them so you have the option of new parts original, new parts generic as well as foreign used parts. In any case most parts are the same as the NZE model corolla from TTTL.

unless you have intentions of hitting every pothole and car on the road.. body parts should not be a problem

engine wise, you can get nearly anything from parts places.. if u the owner are a female i would not recommend the model with the flair kit.. cuz the car kinda low.

all in all.. car is a good one, we have one :)
and you can get parts now cuz it have plenty

buzz, that was for a different question on a different forum. You guys treated a sister real rough in the beginning...but thanks for the eventual links, really appreciated it.

praise and foss thanks for the feedback. foss, i like how the flair kit looks...i'm a good driver (self praise :))...maybe i won't damage it!

Btw, which insurance company will insure the car?
also, any recommended dealers?

i would imagine most insurance brokers will insure the car
we are with guardian general i believe.. check around though and see who gives the best rates etc.

as to who sells, again is best to check around (carry a mechanic if you can as he can point out certain things you may not know or miss)

there are plenty dealers who sell, we got ours from Square One.
and make sure invest in proper security alarm!

parts don't wear fast in these cars, you should have @ least 2 years service before anything needs changing.

A little off topic: On www.trdusa.com, they are featuring an Altis on the drag strip which did 13 seconds or something. Maybe, just maybe some serious aftermarket engine parts would be available soon (Trinidad time though).
