well if by driving experience you mean being able to get a good look at and enjoy the scenery as you drive by then the lame slowbaru engine in the GT-86 is perfect. If you're even remotely interested in performance please feel free to follow the link I posted.

Well, I heard Toyota is bringing the FT86 to run the VW Jetta at the next Drag and Wind.

Should be interesting. Even though I have and love Toyota, I will have to ensure that 86 does NOT beat the Jetta that day.

driving experience meaning how fun it is to drive, the gt86 is a driver oriented sports car where speed isnt priority. It does have a slowbaru engine lol but the car wasnt designed to set blistering lap times. Every review i had read or looked on youtube praised the gt86 for its driving dynamics. Maybe the next model would come with a toyota turbo charged engine.

badart in the real world... you know... the one everyone else lives in...? A used porsche cayman S is cheaper than the GT86 is new. Also The GT 86 makes EXACTLY the same amount of power that the toyota BZR levin makes (blacktop 20V) with just intake and exhaust upgraded. So regardless of what top gear and everyone else is saying about the platform (and trust me as a die hard toyota fan i'm happy it's getting good reviews) consider this:
1) for $50,000 TTD you can have the same amount of power in a levin which to be honest handles really well even though front wheel drive
2) for slightly over half the price of the GT-86 NEW you can have the porsche cayman S (USED but they age well) and get double the prestige, double the looks, double the handling feel and least importantly double the power.

If the GT-86 cost 200 to 250 grand TT maybe i'd say it was worth it but for its price right up until that turbo kit from greddy was released there is no way you'd get me to even consider buying one. Honestly even with the turbo kit i'd wait for the price to come down on used ones and get it RORO lol

wait a minute what am I saying I forgot completely that you can have a toyota RZ supra for the same amount you'll spend on the 86 lmao. That settles it right there.

And how about how UGLAYYYY they made it with those ridiculous fender flares? I'm all for getting this car to be more powerful but not by turning it into something as practical as a rail car for street use. That same budget would get you a proper supra in immaculate condition with the same engine built to the same 600 whp which would be just as capable of drifting if that's what you're after but it would also be the most well mannered daily driven street car also. Hook first of all it's closer to half a million last I checked ($410,000 on the road)... secondly it dyno's with the same WHP as the 20V blacktop BZR levin however the levin is a whopping 390 pounds lighter than the GT-86. I'm also quite sure that because of the 20V engine components and design it will out accelerate the GT-86 especially given the weight advantage. So once again... unless you're buying the 86 for your gf or your wife... uhh hell no would be my answer lol.

Let me be completely honest with you. I WANT to want this car more than you can imagine but I DO NOT. No case of fox or grapes wanting but can't have it sort of thing. I'm sure that at least 1 other person in this thread can afford this car and will not buy one for reasons I will now point out.

1. I am a TOYOTA fanboy. knowing that i'm really driving a subaru with toyota fabric is not a turn on.
2. This is an expensive car it's not as cheap as people keep saying it is. TTD $410K
3. I can get much better performance with even more prestige for less.
4. For supra/celica/levin owners the GT-86 is actually a performance downgrade.
5 The brakes on this car is an aesthetic eye sore and perform just as they look
6 I don't know how more people aren't having this problem but you are sure to leave the front bumper behind on a speed bump or driveway because the front bumper lip flares are enormous. The one I checked out was scraping on everything; It couldn't even drive into the licensing office. The car sits MUCH lower than it looks in videos and photos and because the front bumper sticks out so far it's a nightmare to drive on any surface that's not perfectly flat. The BRZ looks safer with this.

8 The tail lights look like a cheap after market ebay replacement no class at all. I hate them.

What's good about the 86 in my opinion?:
1. The interior is disturbingly Identical to my Trueno (maybe toyota got the idea from my fb pics lol)
2. I like how the shape of the rear fenders reminds me of the Supra and the ST205 celica.
3. The paddle shifters give it a super car presence and it's the ONLY thing I really love on the car.
4. It's daily driver approved: the seats are comfortable and the suspension feel is EXACTLY like a new corolla it's not harsh as you'd expect from a sports car when driving around on normal roads.
5. I also like that in achieving the tail happy nature of the car by fitting prius wheels toyota did not forget to make the fenders so huge that those serious about performance can fit 19 inch wheels and achieve massive grip in corners and yet actually accomplish a more stock looking appearance than even the factory wheels. The factory wheels look grossly undersized on the car like it was really designed for 19s.

honestly about 10 - 14 ft-lbs of torque less than the 86 but the GT 86 is so much heavier it really makes no difference on the road.

If I did have $410k, I'd rather buy a Kompressor Benz or an S80 volvo....and beat the shite out of the 86, in style.

But apart from the dub city rare lights this car is soooo sexy but yes falls very short on performance for that ridiculous price tag
