Humming whining noise when hot above idle

ok another issue unfortunately.

When it is hot there is a loud whining from the left of the engine (manual gearbox side looking from the front to the right) . Sounds like its around or under the dizzy.

When it idles sounds ok - when I give it some gas it starts whining quite loudly, Not a squeal like a clutch bearing.

I will change the MTF as I suspect my 95yr old father in law has never changed it in 25 yrs.

Not sure what else it could be on that side of the engine to be honest. not something I´ve heard before in my years of working with cars.

Will let it cool down and try it again tomorrow. If its ok when cold will change the MTF.

Drained the MTF and oh man did it smell bad! Burned and rancid!!
Looks like the drain and fill plugs have never been touched. usually you can tell when a garage have hacked at them.
Could it really be 25 years old?

Got some 75w90 in the box now.
new valve cover gasket on it also while there as that was old and leaking.

Haven't had a chance to drive it yet, just up and down the drive as I had a few cold snacks!

Just moving through the gears 1st and 2nd felt smooth as silk, 1000 times better.
before it was kind of sticky to get into first.

Warmed it up a few times - but test will be on a good journey to get all up to temp.

Fingers crossed the whining when hot was just old oil thinning out when hot!

(when I losened the oil fill plug first, seemed very overfilled. gently opened it and expected a trickle or nothing, gushed out like the drain plug, fell out my hand and while trying to reach for it made a right mess on my drive!!. Either the geometry of the car has changed over the yrs and its leaning forward or was overfilled at some time).
Car was on a flat drive.

Nope still whining above idle when hot.

I will check the PCV valve next time I get it up to temp.

Thinking the whining could be one of the bearings, possible the alternator, water pump or distribution tensioner.
Need to investigate them further.

Fixed

Was the alternator belt - replaced with a new gates belt.

Old belt felt very old and hard, I believe as the engine warmed up and the belt was so tight it produced this whining noise.
