A new CS2 to EVO & conversion project

So hi, I am a new tuner, and my dream car is the EVO 7 so i spent 4 years looking a shell to build up but i never I found one in my price range. I eventually settled on CS2A GDI, so lets get some things straight first: IK how unrealistic it is sound but lets say the long term budget for it over 5 years would be around 150k to make it into an EVO 7, I want to know what should I start first, any mechanics who willing to all wheel drive conversion. I honestly Positive..... I know stupid but this one for all dumb kids who wanted an evo but couldnt find the right parts. also where can import the parts

-Firstly I'd start with reading and watching a LOT of things. Get your hands on the EVO 7 workshop manual. Last I remember it was available on EVOscan. Familiarize yourself with the specs and servicing etc. There is also a body and chassis section that will be important to you, as the car is NOT an evo, it will not HANDLE like one unless you add some reinforcements.

-Familiarize yourself with parts prices of stuff AWAY, as some things you won't get here. Overestimate the figures as it's better to be in target than not. Places like Partsouq and SSG asia are good resources for searching parts and getting part numbers to cross reference.

-A few little youtube videos out there can show small slideshows of things done. You'll also should check out sites such as Evolutionm, 4Gtuner, etc for other conversions, though it may not be the same model, the process is same.

-There are generally 3 ways to AWD a FWD car, but the most proper way is to weld in the entire floorpan off an EVO along with the trailing arm points. Some people cut the trailing arm mounting area and splice it to the existing FWD one, but I've never been a fan of it. From the days I've asked around for the conversion, expect anything from 25k-40k (or maybe more) JUST for the floorpan swap. The rear bench seat section is going to have to be modded to use the bench style seat instead of the folding ones as well.

- Get EVERYTHING especially electrical if you can find. It will just make things easier for you than splicing anything. Some things will be similar, but cover all your bases.

-And remember, that prices go up ALL the time for these cars. They're at a status of collector cars now pretty much and prices reflect that due to the demand, rarity and status. Other factors like shipping and international pricing also affects it. So though you have the budget, always cater for more.

Thank you, Ill make sure and do that. and the AWD is the scariest thing to me rn

Okay so I researched some of the prices and yeah its a daunting. any mechanics you can recommended that have skill to do this

Mechanics is secondary Imo... body and chassis is key so you need a good fabricator who maybe mechanically inclined.

I think he meant fabricator. OP, you will need to ask around and get prices. Last I remember off the head, a fella called Jason Chance on FB was doing it and also Jasom Coumach from The Automan. Can't remember who else offhand, but someone with enough mech skills can.

Okay Understood, Update I started to source the parts and look through the manuals and it's not cheap but....key word but Its doable. so I am going to get in contact with fabricator

Ok I was looking around and a friend of mines grandmother has cedia lancer awd wagon.....can i take the chassis from that to weld on the my current cs2 chassis ofc I'll do the stiffening

I mean would it fit. if i have to go with lower HP engine like a 4g92 and do the whole stiffening process and spot welds IDM. but I looking to find the back and front cut for the evo 7

I got ECU!!! and i am looking at suspension while I source the donor car.....any suggestions where to look and if not locally internationally....what countries would be the best to import and what not

Is your heart set on turning a CS into a 7? Going down the road of a CM conversion will be alot easier. A CM2 might cost the same as cutting and welding in the awd trunk floor into your CS2. Not to mention you have to find a front cut and a back cut. You'll still have some reinforcements to do but it won't be as drastic. I believe there are two CM's for sale as we speak. Just my 2¢, do as you please lol.

Actually I found a CS2 AWD that crashed in the front....and otherwise I have two back cut evo 7s i found. and yes this was my first car....stupid as it sounds it was there for me at my lowest and I want it to be make it nto the best it can be

I am back for 2024,

So year's plan is to look at doing over the suspension and then start looking at the awd drive swap
