the 4G18 will fit directly in your CS2, bolt-for-bolt

no adjustments needed

this is the engine from the GLX models

this is a SOHC engine, there is NO DOHC variant to teh 4G18 as yet

this engine will work with your existing transmission, as the GLX came with the same F101A CVT tranny

you would need to get the engine, harness, and ECU

not sure if the tranny ECU from teh CS2 is different to the tranny ECU in the CS3 (i think that it is)

Hello,

Thanks for sharing the info. If by any chance u have idea who might have 4G18 SOHC type engine. I'm tryinng but with right direction it might be easy to locate one.

Any comments about 4G16 and if GDL can take?

GDI means Gas Direct Engine. I have no idea what GLX , i guess guess Gas low ......... .

GDI is newer version of engine lancer has developed but it's been failure in Trinidad.

I disagree with that the reason why these engines failed in Trinidad is because not many mechanics know abt this technology.....

if you do a search on the forum these are a couple of threads on GDI engines

you mean 4G18 right?

4G16 is a 1.2L engine - don't think that you gonna find any easily

try bella 682-7179 for the 4G18

as for the differences between the GDI and the GLX

this has been covered many times before - do a search

but briefly

GDI is a engine technology (gasoline Direct Injection), GLX is a model designation\badge

the GDI engines in the Lancers\Cedias come in 4G15 DOHC and 4G93 (believe that it is also DOHC) and 4G93T (definately sure this is a DOHC)

these are the CS2A, CS2V and CS5A, CS5W

these carry the designations of MX-Extra, MX-Saloon, MX-Touring

the EFI (electronic Fuel Injection) technology came in the 4G18 - SOHC in teh GLX

its not the engine that a failure its the piss gas in trini ...

i had that problem with my gdi galant and my mechanic who is a specilist in mitsu said the problem is that the poor quality gas we have in trini, is not suited for engines like these which gets a low sulphur highly refined gas sold in japan.

Hi

Postby bradp9 » April 2nd, 2007, 1:20 pm

I think that is the way to go but we don't enough bio resources folks to begin with to cater the amount of vehicles in Trinidad.

Guys help me to find suitable engine to replace 4G15 in GDI.

bye

if u do not have the analog a/c controls it will be a problem to reconnect the a/c controls also i belive the accelerator pedal will need to be replaced to accomadate the accelerator cable (i will check this evening to see if there are any differences)

i was talking to a Chemical engineer bout this

she told me that as far as she is aware, there are no political\legal provisions against it

we do not have the bio resources to fuel a plant taht can produce bio fuel to support a mass scale of teh vehicles on our roads

so this would have to be a backyard project

lots of guys in England do it

He might get away with a 4G93 (1800 GSR) but a 4G63 (Evo) is a bad idea.
It will break that Lancer transmission in a hurry and torque steer will make it dangerous.
