Well truthfully, not much. The words "Modify" and "not compromising gas"
can't be in the same line.

Basic intake with better filter to flow air in and also a better exhaust including an extractor manifold setup will give you minor gains... but it may be more cost effective to purchase a similar engine in EFI trim, such as the 4G91 DOHC. That engine is roughly 40hp more than what you carrying now...

Or you can use the 4G(92) SOHC 1.6 or (93) SOHC 1.8. lil more torque in the higher displacement engines.

And same priciple as the 4g15... intake and exhaust. would make a difference...

History of My Libero:

bought it with a 4G93 n/a 1800 SOHC - transmission
change tranny 4G93 n/a 1800 SOHC - 5FD Gearbox
then to 4G93 n/a head with 4G93T block with turbo, intercooler etc.
then to Full 4G93T 1800 GSR turbo with FWD gearbox.
now back to 4G93 n/a - with gearbox.

My opinion is that you should have a budget plan. There are many people on this forum that can help you with advise and also supply parts, engines etc. But it will all boil down to how much you are willing to spend...... and keep spending as your maintenance cost will also go up.

Just off the topic, but how did the 93T head on the SOHC block handle?

Posted: February 23rd, 2008, 5:00 pm
by Shaka
MISHI, it was a 4g93 n/a head on a 4g93T block.

Had alot of fuel problems. everything else worked great. I didn't have the 4G93T ECU at the time....hence the SOHC head with n/a ECU.

With turbo injectors, too much fuel at idle and with n/a injectors, not enough fuel when accelerating. I didn't have the money to buy a fuel management system, so I used an extra injector on the intake piping, powered by a pressure switch. Adjusting the timing of the pressure switch was a beyotch, BUT when it worked ..... IT WORKED !!!!!.

If you want to go turbo, the 4G93T Avg $ 8,000 or 4G63T ( Evo 1 - 3 ) $ 15,000.

If not turbo : 4g93 SOHC. This works great on the libero and will only cost about $ 4500.

Give me a call 798-6844 I can link you up with any one of these engines.

You need to compare the cost of upgrading your engine vs changing to a bigger one. If it will cost cheaper to upgrade your engine and get the same or more hp than the 4g93 or any similar engine then you can go that way. just my opinion !!

The SOHC 4G15 displaces 1.5 L (1468 cc) with a bore and stroke of 75.5 mm x 82.0mm. It has approximately 92 hp (69 kW).

4G93 16-valve SOHC 1.8 liter specs.
Bore x Stroke: 81.0 x 89.0Piston Displacement: 1834ccCompression Ratio: 9.5:1ECI-Multi(Electronically Controlled Multi-point Fuel Injection)
Max Power: 86kW @ 5500rpm
Max Torque: 161Nm @ 4500rpm
Horse power: 113 Torque

They come original on these Liberos. I don't know what else, but they came in the CB version. I swapped with a 4g93T for a while, and then back to this 4g93 with FWD gearbox.

Found this:

In 1993, the Lancer wagon, named the Libero in Japan, was launched. An electric version was also released named the Libero EV that ran on NiCd batterys[1]. A V6 variant was also introduced with only 1.6 L, making it the smallest mass-produced V6. The high-performance, turbocharged GSR version formed the basis of the contemporary Lancer Evolution (or 'Lancer Evo') from September 1993, using the drivetrain of the successful Galant VR-4 rally car.

Model and trim levels:

* GL - 2-door coupe, 4-door sedan and station wagon. Powered by a 1.5 L engine (67 kW)
* GLXi - 2-door coupe, 4-door sedan and wagon. Powered by a 1.8 L engine (4G93 SOHC - 86 kW) (sold from new with 1.8 instead of 1.6 variant, due to Australia's poor quality "91 octane" fuel)
* Executive - 4-door sedan and wagon. Powered by a 1.8 L engine (4G93 SOHC - 86 kW)
* GSR - 4-door sedan. Powered by a turbocharged 1.8 L engine (4G93t DOHC - 141 kW)

woi ppl finally i going and start on the libero i going and start on the exhaust first! [I KEEPING THE 4G15 AS I WANT TO HAVE THE MOST POWERFUL STOCK 4G15 CARB DEN! THATS MY PROPHERCY] LOL........
Now Shaka tell me if taking out the catalyic converter is a good idea and wat effect will it have on the car overall. also i willing to spend about $650 on a free flow muffler (well the shiny barrel tingy or watever they call it) wat will be the best type and wat to expect wen in put on the libero...speed gain/noise wise!!!!! (thinking bout doin the piping and headers also "thinking" bout it...lol....wat effect or gains will that give on the 4g15)
