Before you go spending unnecessary money.

1)Take the car for a drive, don't accelerate suddenly, in fact take it easy, check at what rpm the gear changes. If it's around 3500-4000rpm that should be normal.

2) Whilst taking your time driving look for an opportunity for some space to accelerate like the h/way when it's clear, floor it from around 60kmh, should go into 2nd gear, car will feel like the gear has run out, keep your foot on the accelerator, keep on checking your rpm, 3rd should come in around 5500-6000rpm.

Don't worry that's only the INVECS transmission doing it's thing, during normal driving the tranny monitors your driving style and adjusts the shift points to suit your driving and for best fuel efficiency, floor it and it goes basically into a sport mode.

it could be a flaw in a shaft which joins the converter to the gears. It is to short an slips especially if u floor it often to get wheel spin from standstill. Let your mech take down tranny an have a look at the splines in the converter for wear. The shaft is tough so it grinds away the converter splines.

He didn't state if it's cvt or not, i still have an inkling that it's the invecs that's probably confusing him.

i agree.. the tranny cpu "learns" your driving style and adjusts shift points based on this as well as throttle position.. reset the brain and see if there are any changes... if when in automatic the vehicle takes long to change a gear then your tps may be dirty or faulty so get that checked out.

If he uses tiptronic, he is given full control over the gear ratios and the learned ecu mappings are ignored.

The OP needs to state whether he gets this problem while using tiptronic or not.
This would shed alot of light on his case.
