Need some help and info on VRG

Postby LancerFanatic » September 14th, 2011, 12:40 pm

About 3 weeks ago i bought a 1998 Mitsubishi vrg galant with a 4g93 GDI just to go to school and encountered some problems..
1. Changes gears roughly.
2. there is a noise when accelerating or revving.
3. Earlier this week had some heavy rainfall and the roof of the back seat start dripping water smh
4. idling heavily...been told thats a norm :?
5. clock not working
6. AC blow cold in the evening/night but whenever sun hot, it blows warm and takes a while to kick in

Serviced the car at automotive and they used Kendall GT-1 Hp engine oil...which oil works best in these engines?

I'm basically a noob when it comes to these gdi engines... what can i do to solve these problems and maintain the engine.. also planning on doing a 6a12 mivec swap, is that a wise decision

a certain tuner told me he would teach me how to maintain it but never responded.... not calling any names (xtech)

The rough gear change can be a burst mount especially since you state you have a rough idle, these cars go through the front engine mount regularly, if it's that Taiwanese crap, every 2-3 months. If you stick on changing the front you'll damage the rear also.

Sounds like that car needs a little tlc

Oh yeah your ac, can be a bad fan, faulty condenser, leaking evaporator, or just low gas pressure, get a good ac tech to check it.

thx rollingstock... your right just a little tlc... i carried it to my mechanic and did a complete service, running through every problem, replacing each faulty part and now everything runs fine...now im really enjoying the VRG experience :D
as for the ac problem, the condenser was faulty and needed to be replaced..

xtech i wanted to do something different hence the reason for even considering the V6 MIVEC swap.. have a parted out VR4 shipped and coming in nex month
