Hello everyone this is my first post in years. Good to be back! So i recently purchased a galant fortis 2007 for the wife. It came with a japan mmcs, i tried searching but never found a post with a proper follow up on how they solved the issue. My mmcs is in japanese with the japanese frequency for radio so i purchased a used mmcs from the US. Is there anyway to get maps for trinidad loaded on it?

I replaced mine, and no issues so far except I need a better trim panel

Can someone make a trim panel that will make the radio flush?

Mitsubishi OEM factory navigation system
NAVIGATION UNIT Part # MZ360141EX / MZ360151EX
NAVIGATION INSTALL KIT Part # MZ360180EX or MZ360192EX

This system is compatible with a rear back up camera.
This is also compatible with the Mitsubishi Lancer and lancer EvoX 2008 onwards as well as recent Mitsubishi Outlanders

Not sure if this is the same, but this is the part number I used for the MMCS. Same part number for the install kit as quoted above.
Mitsubishi Display unit: 8750A183

It was pricey since I purchased the Head unit brand new ($14,000TTD in hand) it was cheaper than what CARPL*S in San Fernando quoted ($35,000TTD) but there are used units selling on eBay. The key is to match the number on ur current MMCS eg: J-01 = N-01 (my MMCS was J-03 so I purchased a N-03 which is that part number I quoted)

Forgive my ignorance - what's the difference between the "Navigation Unit" and the "Navigation Install Kit"?

I'm just assuming the Navigation Unit is the whole unit that you would pull out from the centre console like what's in the pics.

Would I still need to get the Navigation Install Kit if I sourced a corresponding American unit (just the part in the pics below) to the Japanese unit in my car?

Once u receive the sub harness in that pic ur fine. The install kit consists of the GPS antenna, brackets, mounts screws, a new trim and the sub harness. I only used the sub harness from the kit and the new trim. Only one extra mod is needed, u need to locate the radio antenna jack and convert it from a 2pin terminal to the standard radio antenna jack we know.

The difference between the navi unit and the install kit is: the navi unit is just the head unit in that pic, minus all the brackets, sub harness, canbus interface (small box under the head unit ) while the install kit carries everything else that's I mentioned before
