Advice needed on libero transmission

Not a mitsu expert, but know a little. Got a libero with 4g15 carb and and all wheel drive transmission. Tranny failed. Can a normal 2wd tranny bolt in its place and just condemn the driveshaft? Or will axles need to be replaced also? Any help appreciated. Thanks
