EL15 turbo with CVT

Postby CyrexZ3 » July 17th, 2017, 10:28 am

Thinking about putting a turbo on a 2010 Subaru 1.5R with ah CVT. Think I should do it

I also am thinking about this some time now. Only thing is the engine high compression. Which I believe is 10:1-10.7:1. Correct me if I am wrong.
The idea is just to get about 30-40 more HP. Not to get a race car out of it.

I think it should be good only under 9 psi of boost but the CVT I'm worried about if it can take it.

The CVT should be able to take it. But I will be more conservative and stay 7 psi and below. With proper tuning and not abusing the CVT it will last till I can afford a wrx sti. Lol

Sound like an interesting project.

Not trying to deter you but this is only worthwhile if you want to engage in the build process (i.e. the project itself). If you're looking at it purely from a performance vs cost perspective then you're better off looking elsewhere (Perhaps an ej20 swap).

To do this correctly with the 1.5 would require a bit of work (and expense) - my biggest concern would be the electronics side of things - you'll probably need to run some sort of piggy-back setup to accommodate the turbo setup and to ensure that things run safe.

What is the best engine to swap in a GH3 impreza. One which requires no fabrication.

If you're looking for a conversion, https://www.facebook.com/csmspeedandcus ... 32&fnr_t=0

They have a 2.0 non turbo AWD conversion in stock

Guys I am also looking to turbo my gh2 impreza stock engine, question can the turbo legacy headers work on my impreza? I am also planning on using the turbo injectors, turbo from a legacy and a management system.

The subframe on the turbo models have an indent to accomodate the up pipe. Your na subframe may not have it.
