Postby sr18 » December 3rd, 2013, 9:57 pm

Hey guys, i currently have a 2008 4x2 bt-50. I have an issue where the fuel gauge reaches half tank it drops to empty and while driving it raises back up. Did any one have this problem Or does anyone have any idea whats happening here? Thanks

open the fuel filler cap and have a look. There's supposed to be a metal flap, if its broken that might be the cause.

That is happening to my 4x4 B2500. The problem is the clip on the temperature sensor (in my case). It should be the same issue for you.

Let me try and describe where that sensor is. The hose coming out of the radiator (the top one/outlet). If you look directly where that hose enters the engine block, you will see a sensor that is screwed into the engine head. That is the temperature sensor. That clip that plugs into the sensor, with age, gets loose. Unplug the clip and bend the metal jack that is on the sensor slightly so that the clip plugs in firm. That should solve it.
