RFW on Ford Ranger

Postby Fordgrl » August 9th, 2023, 10:45 am

Good day. I have a 2009 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 manual truck. I dont really understand this rfw thing. Such as under what vonditions do you use it and do you have to use it everytime you use the 4wd?

Here's my problem. The other day a friend was driving it with me as passenger. We needed to use the 4wd to get out of a bit of a swampy patch. It pulled out smoothly. He didnt press the rfw button before but I noticed the light on later on and he turned it off. I now notice anytime I switch on the ignition the rfw light stays on on the dash. And I have to press the button for it to go away.

Why is this happening? Is a sensor stuck? Or is something messed up now? Please help
