Hello guys
I am contemplating buying a grand Vitiara, new from firm Any reasons why i should not.
I was originally planning on the Xtrail hybrid but due to all the mixed reviews i am doubting my original decision.
I dont want a vehicle which i have problems with.

We have a PCA grand vitara
Brought from new
Doing 140,000kms currently

No issues after 10years.
Except 1 caliper had gotten stuck at around the 5year mark.

Normal servicing done outside firm.

I'm sure its not rust causing that.
A few metres of braking should have cleared that.
I suspect its a seized caliper
Happened to ours and a friend of mine

Hi all. Was always a fan of the SGV so thinking of getting a used 06-15 as a daily driver and maybe eventually some basic off roading.
Probably do a slight lift with spacer and larger tyres etc. Any experience on how this affects ride quality?

Any suggestions as to what to look for when buying a used one and any advice on parts, maintenance etc? Ive heard they can be difficult to come by.
Also, what is the ride quality like usually? Thanks much.

Worksux101...

I use a 2006 model as a daily driver.

Things you should be aware of...

The 4x4 model is all time, so more fuel consumption (18-20mpg) more tire wear (All four in 40,000km, depending on brand and driving style and less acceleration (0-60mph in 15 secs). Top speed is about 100 mph after you beg her more than a tired wife :)

Parts are expensive at the firm, but that's the story no matter what firm you go to.

It's best you get one with the fabric interior, the leather cracks and looks awful after a while.

It's a proper trail rated SUV and will take you many places a car won't. It chews up the powdery sand in Maracas and scares you a bit but doesn't actually get stuck.

Almost forgot, if you ever have an issue with the power steering, don't stick! The design makes the fluid fall onto the alternator and destroys it in very little time. I've learned this lesson the hard way. The power steering pump was $9,200. can't remember the price of the alternator.

All that said, I love mine and will be upgrading to a newer one in due course, or a swap for a 2.7V6 or a 3.2 if I find a willing and able mechanic and the components.
