If I have Castrol 5w40 and I want to top it off . Can I use SHELL HELIX ULTRA 5W-40? The castrol kinda outa the way to get. Eventually I would switch all the way to shell.

Coolant: What do you guys recommend? (seeing this G12,G12+ & G12++) in the OM. And where can I get it? Seeing "red coolant" but none specifically marked G12 etc.

If you going to change coolant, best to go with G12++ or G12+, but don't mix them

2002 C200 Kompressor with M111.955 engine

My mechanic uses Mobil 1 synthetic (euro spec). 7 quarts at $85 per quart.

I run it for 10 000km minimum. (I tend to use mileage not time for my service intervals)

Our friend is right about not mixing g12 and g12+ coolants. G13 superceded G12++ as it is made using glycerol as opposed to g12's ethylene glycol. None of this has any real impact on us in the Caribbean as glycols are used to prevent coolant from freezing and don't contribute to corrosion protection.

As far as my research has revealed, almost all long life coolants (NAPS free or lightly silicated) are more or less the same (Havoline, zerex, Shell , genuine VW mannol, bizol etc etc) and it really doesn't matter what brand you buy genuine or aftermarket. I can sell.you a shell extended life coolant that's lightly silicated just like a G12+ coolant. The only substantial difference is the colour and price. (Whatever colour you prefer to see on your expansion tank )

Good day, i have a Peugeot 206 5FWD. I have used SHELL 50 when it was $165 but i think Belair store in marabella has it for that price still. Now i am using ULTRA PREMIUM 20W50 $148 in Allied Home Center San Fernando but my engine is noisy with that oil so i am going to use BESTLINE Engine Treatment already ordered it. For the gearbox i use RAVENOL 75W-80 ordered it from Amazon 2Liters cost me around $500 total.
