What does the manual specify?
Determine the viscosity and minimum API or ILSAC or ACECA spec (whichever applies) from the manual, and find one that matches

Looking to change my oil. Which oil do you all recommend?
Some say Pentosin.
Can you tell me the price, how much i should need and where to buy at a reasonable price in Port of Spain, El Scorro or St James area.

It is for a VW 2010 B6 2.0 Tsi Passat.

Need to get this today.

I use Pentosin, no problems. Great value for cars that need greater than 4l at refill.

Congrats.
Check ERM for similar oil. You may be able to switch to 5w40 oil. Check for VW/Audi approved oils. Usually have the VW502/505 rating on the bottle. 5w30 would be VW504/507 type oil. Might be worth your while to ask southern sales what they use too.

The mobil 1 5w30 is vw502 but i am not sure if its the best for the hot temperatures we have here.
I am leaning to a 5w or 10w 40 oil.
I believe southern sales recommends the 5w 30 which is also one of the international recommendations.

I also need to find plugs and oil filter, called ERM and they dont have any.

Thanks

Yeah I doubt ERM has things for your engine cuz it won't be in volume locally. The oil though you might have a better chance.

Do you have a service manual for your s5? Don't worry with the heat thing. Worry more about sulphur content and changing your oil often.

Will see what I can find with respect to engine oil. Do you have Stronic or manual?

word of advice, don't believe everything the 'experts' say
The euro place on Ramsaran Street recently sold CVT fluid to my friend for an R56 MINI Cooper....Tis is after they called their 'expert' to verify
Only the R50 came with the CVT. The R56 has an Aisin transmission that uses a Toyota spec ATF. I suggested the Valvoline MaxLife synthetic ATF which meets the Aisin spec, but my friend went ahead and put the CVT fluid because the 'experts' recommended it.....looking forward to the result

Regarding the Valvoline SynPower MST Euro spec 5W40, I started using it in my diesel Cooper as well. The agent recently got stock so it should be on shelves soon

trinis like to pay to learn...and then bad talk the manufacturer
I sent the owner to realoem.com where you can put in your VIN and get every detail on your car...they gave the correct spec, and STILL they put the CVT fluid in the car
De owner father say 'nah boy, dis car does drive different...ah feel it have ah CVT' :/

On my 116i I've used Amsoil Euro5w30 . i didnt like how the engine sounded, but my ears aren't that good anyway.
I replaced the Amsoil with Royal Purple HPS 5w30, non BMW approved oil, car feels good nonetheless, much less preignition like the n45 is prone to.

In the transmission, the GM 6 speed auto, I use Lubegard ATF, dexron vi. That thing is smooth ...amazingly smooth.
In the rear differential I currently have Eneos 75w90(i had a spare litre from when I used to sell the stuff).

For me, the key things to consider are the viscosity rating, I prefer to stick to the lowest viscosity rating that covers our operating temperature range, and the ACEA/API standard where possible, though, the Royal Purple is a non API listed oil.

As I always say, you don't have to go expensive to get good product, the valvoline max-life ATF is great and affordable, also fully synthetic.

I'm not sure about GULF quality, but the GULF SVX 5w30 is very affordable and meets VAG/Merc/BMW's most advanced long life requirements.

Changed to Total quartz 9000 5w40 - Federals Sando bess price for gallons (~$250 around there per gal)
Trying Amzoil euro formula 5w40 currently - I think its a good price @ $360 Parts Solution P/Town but its 5L which is more than a gallon)

Changing around 8k miles.. Based on research the Amzoil has had great results..

Does the mk6 and mk5 carry the same engine?

Valvoline Synpower MST 5W40 is euro-spec and meets pretty much all the major european OEM standards

Somehow just can't bring myself to believe that amsoil is the Lord of Oil. I think it is lot of marketing hype. Always talking about being the first in synthetics... in 1950. Idk. We have any oil engineers in the house?

Have used AMSOil 5w40 or 10W30 signature oil, coolant, trans oil, diff oil in a variety of Euros ranging from Skoda Fabia to modified 335i. Not sure about the 'hype' but has worked perfectly for me for 5+ years. Typically change at 10kkm for oil. Sometimes slightly shorter on 335 just by choice after modding.
