Volkswagen Passat 2010 B6 (Typ3)- Advice Needed

Postby StefanH2 » February 17th, 2014, 11:03 am

Good day folks,

I'm thinking of buying a used Volkswagen 2010 Passat and i need some advice before taking the plunge. I'm a huge Volkswagen fan. I've wanted to own one for quite some time now. Test drove one too..but now I want to own one. I'm not able to afford one brand new and the local used newer models are still pretty expensive. So some advice is needed.

1. Is this model (2010 Passat B6) good?
2. Are there any issues associated with this model I should be aware of?
3. Reliability?
4. Average cost of parts? I know VW parts are pricey.
5. Average maintenance cost? e.g. regular service
6. Mileage?
7. I know it uses Premium fuel. Cost of fulling the tank.

Those are just a few questions i want to get answered from local drivers. I've done a fair amount of research online about this car, but i wanted to hear from local owners.

thanks in advance.

cheers.

Hi there, a year ago i bought a similar model passat (previously had an accord). The passat ride is by far superior in my opinion and a lot more power. Mechanically, the abs sensor needed changing which cost me $1700 - other than that no issues! so reliability is probably less than the accord, but ride quality is better.

However, my gas bill rose in a big way! from $130 per tank (super) to $350 per tank (premium). There is a price to be paid for more power!

Hello StefanH2

Would you be interested in the current model Passat (2011 B7) used? What's your budget like?
