Duke should have told his "peeps" to join the call an rest and reflect today. would have benefitted him... socio-politically as well as showing support for the cause.

but he too stupid for that!!! mind you i think the duke is a intelligent person with great wit - but wearing his 2 hats causes him to make stupid decisions

PM: I don’t feel good…the nation is hurting

https://www.cnc3.co.tt/pm-i-dont-feel-good-the-nation-is-hurting/

He told his audience he was invited on the grounds that the Opposition leader was going to be there and decided that that was not a good reason to attend.

“That may be a reason for me not to go to the funeral because the population would easily and maybe correctly view my presence and the presence of my other colleagues from Parliament as attempting to politicise this unspeakable sorrow which Andrea’s family, her community, the nation is experiencing,” he said.

A load of bull and lip service.

So my work place decided that it would look bad to get caught open today so we are to report to work "retail" but don't do any front facing activities that could be captured on social media.

I live in a village and theres only ph taxis that work in our area to travel in and out and im guessing in many areas there a ph taxis that are the only transport system to get in and out. I agree that there should be proper regulation, identification and so forth for ph taxis, but you cant fault the entire ph taxi system becuase of 1 incident. There are many good people driving ph taxis to make a honest living

"We at Pennywise Cosmetics are happy to see the stand that is being taken in our country over the past week and the call for improvements to ensure the safety of our nation's daughters. We also see the calls for us to shut our doors today. However, we prefer to help our country in different ways, as we have been silently doing all through the years. We did not publicise the fact that we have partially funded the autopsy done recently, since when we help we do not do it for the publicity but for the mere fact that we want change. We have realised that in a case like this, it is helpful to the conversation to show what we are doing to be part of the change. So while we will not be closing our doors, rest assured that we are always working silently for the betterment of our country. We will always continue to empower women and strive to improve the living conditions of the citizens of our country. We urge everyone to always do their part, to donate, protest or make a difference in whatever way YOU choose, but do not simply do nothing and expect change."

That is probably the most intelligent thing any company has done.

Many private businesses saying on social media they closing out of respect. Not that they not getting businesses any way

gg find his way to the funeral, as an office directly in charge of security. so at least he showed he recognizes that the ball was dropped, and have to do better.

rowley was a poor public official decision not to go. not even the MoNS... poor.

Starlight the 1% gym is closed on Friday so I'm sure it'll have the same effect you're expecting.

That gym is Fitness Centre Limited, and its only that branch, as yesterday there was a fire scare. I was there last night and smoke was coming from the ceiling so I guess today they would be closed to address that issue.

not really, for 2 reasons
1-Not knowing who or the amount of ppl that'd be there or their disposition/threat level it would be a security risk to them. They not that stupid as to put themselves out in the open where they themselves could be harmed, just for a them to make a pappyshow of themselves at a funeral for some random dead girl. They never did it before, they ain't gonna start now.

2-they don't care about her, or anyone outside their little small-minded circles, alive or dead, and the only reason they even issued a statement is because they studying in 4 years they will pay the price for not doing so at the polls

IMHO, that ENTIRE firearms act have to scrap, burn & bury and start over.

Am I the only pessimistic one here? I get the organizers mean well but trini people feel they smart. I feel some people will try to turn this into a jouvert if it gets late enough. They're already conditioned for a distraction this time of the year.
If businesses were genuine in their protest, they'd close for much longer to make an impact; one days profit in return for publicity is a decent opportunity cost.

And carry it onto the weekend and into what would have been carnival monday and tuesday.

These ppl not serious. I went to a vigil and ppl not wearing mas, no social distancing and a free for all. I left one time.

It feeling like ppl just want any excuse to get out the house at this point.

That protest infront the house has no social distancing. The girl funeral was packed. What really going on in this place.

The radio stations having carnival parties and private parties still going on. This is madness

I'm seeing alot of younger people singing at her Funeral. I thinking they are the social media gallavanters who only doing this post up on their TikTok for social media cred. People might have some truth to using this funeral for their own personal gain whatever it may be political or otherwise.
