idk about the experience of people here but I had countless visits to private eye doctors.....for myself, the wife, mother, father in law, astigmatism, cataract surgery etc.........and I get the impression from ALL of them that's it's a blatant money making thing by using scare tactics to make people come back for frequent visits.
